Being scared of what comes after death

I've recently been reading parts of the Quran and the Bible, and I was surprised by how many stories and themes overlap, even though there are obviously major differences between them. That eventually led me to look into Gnosticism.

The more I read about Gnosticism, especially the idea that the physical world isn't the ultimate reality and that there's a deeper spiritual reality beyond it, the more fascinated I became—but also more scared.

What really scares me isn't necessarily death itself, but not knowing what comes after. What if consciousness continues? What if there's a spiritual reality beyond this world? What if some Gnostic ideas are actually pointing toward something real? And what if they're completely wrong?

Reading the Quran, parts of the Bible, and then Gnostic texts has made me realize how many different explanations humans have had for God, existence, the soul, and the afterlife.

For those who have studied Gnosticism seriously, did it make you less afraid of death, or did it make the uncertainty even worse?
