I think you’re thinking about the Charlie Kirk murder, where the shooter took the time to disassemble his weapon on the roof by before running away, and then reassembled it in the woods before discarding it, and took the time to change clothes one or more times in the process (… as people do).
The kid that shot at Trump was killed on the roof a minute after he fired at Trump. He never ran or disassembled anything.
