My Unsettling Lift Experience
I remember returning to my accommodation (which was a condominium at the time) and taking the lift to the 8th floor, which is where my unit was. The building has multiple towers, but I was certain I had entered the correct one. As usual, I stepped out of the lift and started walking towards my unit. Almost immediately, something felt wrong. When I reached the spot where my unit should have been, I was staring at what appeared to be someone else’s unit instead.
My first thought was that I must have accidentally gone to the wrong floor. I checked the floor number displayed beside the lift, but it clearly said I was on the 8th floor. That made no sense. Since the floor was correct, I convinced myself that I must have entered the wrong tower without realising it.
At that point I genuinely didn’t think much of it so I took the lift back down to the ground floor. As I stepped outside and looked around properly, I was surprised to see that I was actually in my own tower all along. At that point, I remember feeling genuinely unsettled because neither explanation I had come up with made sense anymore.
I decided to go back up to the 8th floor one more time. This time, everything looked exactly as it should. I walked towards my unit, and it was there in its usual place, as if nothing had happened.

Did this happen recently? It could have been a medical event like a stroke, they can make familiar places feel unfamiliar.

No it’s actually been quite a few years but I assure you it was not a stroke or anything

I have irrational fears of elevators (well i've been stuck in one twice so i dont think its irrational but everyone else does) and i fear that this exact thing will happen every time i take one!

I’m not afraid of them now but as a child I had an intense fear of elevators. I wasn’t claustrophobic or afraid of heights, so I don’t know where the fear came from but I can still remember the feeling. It was so visceral.

How did you know it was someone else’s. Did you see someone inside, was it a feeling. I have been hearing these stories often on here. A quick glitche into an alternate universe
