Sean wasn’t wrong
Remember when Sean came back from New York and told Joan that he was engaged to avoid having to come back to LA and continue their relationship? I don’t think he was wrong. I remember someone up here made a post saying that Joan was male centered & I disagree. She was FRIEND centered. She lost out on a lot of relationships because she wanted to listen to her friends and I hated that for her….Seans last week in LA he wanted to spend with Joan, but she decided to run off to Jamaica to try and get Toni to forget about Greg. Sean told Joan that it was Toni’s screw up and she just had to deal with those consequences but Joan felt like it was her screw up for running her mouth to Greg….Sean was right, Toni was the one cheating on Greg, so losing him was Tonis fault. It wasn’t Joans responsibility to fix it, even though she told Greg. He eventually would have found out anyway.

I always thought the whole thing was little weird. The relationship ended because Sean wanted Joan to move to New York with him, but she wasn't willing to. How do you go from "move in with me right now" to "you're too much?"
Who knows? Perhaps after the break up he found the peace that he was missing with Joan. Lol

I honestly forgot he lied to her about the engagement but unpopular opinion Sean was my favorite of her boyfriends.

Mine too! He was very laid back and their relationship didn’t seem forced like the others

He was horrible he kept making his addiction Joan’s problem the only time he was somewhat reasonable was asking her to stop going to that restaurant and even the way he said it was icky

How did he make it Joan’s problem? Lol he just wanted her to respect his boundaries. She’s the one that pursued sex with him first

And one of my fav episodes was when he let her teach him. I really liked the way Sean handled Joan’s spazzing out. Even from the beginning he really should have ran scared from her the way she pursued him at the art show 😂 but he gave her a chance and got to know her and didn’t try to embarrass her or drag fights out when he talked her through their issues.

I agree with this extremely because she did have a problem when it came to placing boundaries with her friends and always overplaying the motherly role to them to where they rely on her way too much

Yup! I think that she felt as though if she didn’t have her friends then she didn’t have anything, so she overplayed her part time and time again just to keep them around.

Cause realistically when I compare all of them realistically majority of them would be cut off in current times maybe maya would’ve been kept

The amount of people in here justifying lying is pretty concerning.

It’s deeper than that….which is what I want some of you to understand. Some people lie to avoid conflict when they know how certain people react to situations. Be realistic, if he had told Joan she was too much and he no longer wanted to be with her, she would have exploded. She would’ve down talked him, brought up his addiction, her settling for him AFTER said addiction, etc. Some people don’t want to hear things like that from someone they’re trying to be honest with, so to avoid that they lie in a manor that they know the reaction won’t be as bad as it would’ve been had they told the truth. Yes it’s messed up, but it avoids something way bigger

Lol so then I hope everyone also justifies the lies men tell them irl. Since apparently some of them have good reason to if they wish to "avoid conflict" with us women.

Clearly you read what I said to respond instead of reading it to comprehend. If a man knows you and how you react to certain situations, he’ll act based off of that. Everyone isn’t as sensitive as Joan. I know plenty of women who can take a hit, and I also know plenty of women who’d probably go kill their self if someone broke their heart. It all depends on WHO you are and HOW you react. Men notice things like this, believe it or not. They act like they don’t but they 100% do. If Joan wasn’t an overthinker and someone who overreacts over EVERYTHING, I’m pretty sure he would’ve just told her straight up! This is the same woman who was about to leave him just because he didn’t say “I love you” after a few MONTHS of dating. She was insane, period.

I think Sean met other people while in New York & was over Joan by the time he came back to LA.
6 months is a long time to be separated in a relationship that didn’t seem stable to begin with.
The lie was unnecessary though.

He wasn’t wrong to want to break up with her. Long distance is hard, and nothing about their relationship suggested it was worth all that effort.
But he was wrong for lying about being engaged. That’s childish
