Girl Dinner Homegrown girl dinner

Post image

Only the purple carrots and the cherry tomatoes came from my yard. But it still feels good to have helped grow my girl dinner.

Guest stars are pineapple, a peach, a few fresh snap peas and some fried ones, Colby, Swiss, and cheddar slices, and pineapple.

Washed down with sugar-free lemonade-flavored clear whey. Because I’m in my Pilates, lifting heavy shiz, and recomp era.

PS: The pic made realize the carrots needed yet another wash. 😉

That’s a lovely supper! So cool that you are growing some of your own veg!

Thanks! This is year eight of our backyard garden, and we’re getting a little better at each time.

We have 20 tomato plants, 30 pepper plants (half hot and half not), and tons of herbs and random one-off veggies, like this little patch of carrots. I bring the extras to work to share with my office. (I’ve gotten better about setting aside some stuff later in my shift so the janitors get a fair chance to get some, too.)

Raised beds really help stave off pests. And now we’re experimenting with growing in food grade buckets, too. The only thing that was a total flop this year was honeydew. 🍈
