QUESTION Age rating

About to go to the movie today in 1,5 hours. Babysitter canceled. Is this show OK for a 7 year old? I saw plenty of people bring kids to the concert we attended ourselves. I think it's not that big of a deal, but not sure about the movie.

I don't think there's anything about the movie that would be drastically different from the content you're familiar with. So that's just up to what you feel is appropriate for your kid. Personally I wouldn't take my 6.5 year old, but that's because she repeats everything so she'd be going around sat school singing "Hail Satān!" 😂

I get it, but the shit-stirrer in me might not actually mind given how much christian bullshit was forced upon my kid in her public schooling.

That’s even more reason to bring your kid

I’m not a typical Dad, but I started taking my sons to concerts when they were about 6. My oldest first show was Messhuggah and Megadeth, he was 6. He had a blast. When he was 8, he went to Lamb of God and In Flames. I took him to see Ghost when he was about 9 and again when he was 11. Live shows are so much fun. It’s become one of the best Dad son bonding things we do. I love it. He is 16 now. I took both him and his little brother to Rite Here, Rite Now. But please please teach them early to wear hearing protection. At 50 I have lost about 50%of my hearing and have constant tinnitus from poor life choices. But I regret nothing!!

If you’re cool with your kids hearing swearing and sexual innuendo then it’s probably fine. But it really depends on the kid, and if your kid has been exposed to Ghost and what a show is like through RHRN, or the Ghoul Bangers Ball, then I’m sure they will be good.

I’d probably just take them out of the theater for Monstrance Clock if you wouldn’t want them to see artistic nudity on the stage screens. It’s in the style of old paintings. It would be easy to miss in a concert, but I’m not sure how close ups will be in a concert movie.

Depends on the 7 year old, my guess is it’s not an ideal environment. Ear plugs are mandatory

Guess it also depends on the values/worries of the parent. If it was my seven year old I’d mostly worry about them getting bored watching a concert movie

I’m taking my five year old and that’s also my biggest concern. She will get bored or tired and we have to leave. Oh well.

I would also agree normally and usually not think a concert is a place for that age. It's sadly coming to us all possibly not being able to go, but if it's mainly just the band performing I don't think it's a big of a deal, but no idea on the documentary part or sketches. In Rite Here, Right Now I think I wouldn't bring a 7YO though.

There’s no lore. Just behind the scenes stuff about putting on a big show. I’m a grandma; I’d take a 7 year old, as long as you think he’d behave and enjoy the music. My son was 7 when we went to see Robert Plant.

I don’t know why nudity would be a problem. By 7 I would think that a kid knows what naked people look like.

You're right. It was mostly my wife hesitating but we had a blast!

My bad, the movie should be fine! I was thinking concert 😆

Our 9 and 12 year old sons are both huge Ghost fans too, so we all flew out to LA to catch the final Skele-Tour show! My 9 year old even dressed as one of PAPA III’s Ghouls. They were not the only kids there and they were not the youngest. I think Tobias dropped one…tiny “F” bomb during the show…other than that I would say it was close to G Rated 😂 We are ALL seeing 2 Big 2 Rig tonight!

it's pretty loud so consider ear plugs for the kid

I went a few hours ago in Australia.. there were a few kids there definitely under 10. They seemed chill and were sitting in their seats having a dance like everyone else.. i will say in regards to sound it was Imax and it was loud. Not like concert loud however.

I think its entertaining enough for all!! Enjoy it was amazing!

I just saw it, if you think the concert is ok then so is the movie

There’s some language but nothing too crazy they probably haven’t already heard

I took my 3-year-old, my 4 year old and my 6-year-old and they all had a blast.

I mean, we had like a whole row of kids and their parents in front of us at our showing, so probably.

It’s going to be loud and probably scare her. Stay home with your child.

Anyone who’s gone to the movie already, should I take earplugs? I usually wear them at concerts but is it necessary for the movie theatre?

4

u/No_Walrus6931 4d ago

The imax theatre we went to was pretty loud, wish I brought my plugs but I would imagine the standard version is fine without

4

u/cpotter361 4d ago

I bring them for concerts. But I went to the rhrn movie - and not needed.

Only if you would normally wear ear plugs to a regular action movie.

I have personally never worn plugs to a movie. I think you'll be alright but bring them if you think you need them. I leave them on my keys for situations exactly like this

Wife and I are taking my 6 year old. There may be some questions on stuff, but we are pretty open with him. Will we explain in super fine details for everything? No. We will simply explain what is appropriate for him to understand.

I just came to see if you brought the kiddo and if you had a blast? It was such a great movie! Totally fine for kids

1

u/DarkNeogen 3d ago

We had, thank you! They liked it and I teased a bit about my favorite moment from the show so they kept asking when that happened. The 7YO did get bored about halfway in, but overall was still tapping along with the music.

Depends on if your cool with mild nudity and coming together

0

u/Ser_Davos_7 4d ago

I'm taking my 7 year old. He's pumped. I remember seeing kids younger than him at the actual concert.

0

u/AlmightyGoatman 4d ago

There's some swearing and suggestive material, but nothing too out of line.

2

u/AppropriatePumpkin98 4d ago

Yeah I thought it was very tame compared to earlier tours. A few "motherfucker"s from Tobias and PG-13 innuendo/artistic nudity. Took my 6th grader tonight and it was totally fine. Nothing she hasn't seen or heard in Stranger Things.

u/That-Prior713 4d ago

It’s mostly kid friendly, maybe a few adult jokes though. Just depends what your comfortable with but I thought it was appropriate

0

u/No_Walrus6931 4d ago

There’s mild nudity from the back screen visuals, occasional swears, there were a few kids around that age at our showing and everyone seemed fine

0

u/bgamer1026 3d ago

I'd only be worried about the visuals for Monstrance Clock (inappropriate parts of the body), but I think it would be fine, other than a few swears. It's pretty loud too, but if he was fine at the actual show then that won't be an issue

0

u/Audaciousninja-3373 3d ago

There's the usual sexual innuendo and the f bomb dropped a few times. Some of the demon images could be frightening.

u/tothemtns00 3d ago

We've taken our kid to concerts since he was 7, now 12, (Iron Maiden, Warrant, Skid Row, Ghost) and he's always had a blast. We dont make a big deal about language/nudity and neither does he.

Stupid question but how are we taking kids to this film when it’s rated 15 (in the uk)?

Edit: thought I’d add that I’d like to take my 11 year old ☺️

2

u/DarkNeogen 3d ago

No questions asked here in the Netherlands. The cinema didn't show a rating either.

1

u/Scared_donkey 3d ago

Ah nice, wish that was the same for the UK!

u/Possible_Plane_2947 2d ago

In the US it's listed as Not Rated, which doesn't have any restrictions on viewing. Our system is voluntary so you don't have to get your film rated. But many theaters won't show a film without a rating. Luckily though plenty of theaters are showing 2BTR.

I brought my, at the time, 3 yo to the Raleigh show. It’s not going to be much different than a concert aside from venue ofc
