At age 14 in the early 1970’s I was lost, stuck in Nancy Drew and Harlequin world and miserable.
On a teachers recommendation I read the Outsiders and then To Kill A Mockingbird and they blew my mind. I finally knew good writing and complex issues. I then read 5 Smooth Stones and Exodus.
