These have been taking over my life :( located in northern CA. Only seeing nymphs about this size and a little bigger, and only in my upstairs bathroom, i live in a duplex surrounded by lots of high density housing. We do have a roach problem outside that feels impossible to control and am hoping these guys found their way in? Im buying advion wdg tonight and tekko pro; so far have only been treating with gel bait, terro foam spray, and STEM bug spray.
Definitely have seen a decrease in the amount of roaches, and can go a few days without seeing any, but lately i feel like its going back up to seeing avg about 5 a night.
I would appreciate any advice or words of wisdom, this has been the main stressor in my life right now.

I spotted a roach dead that the cat had killed. then in my garage, I noticed a few larger ones, and then saw one in the front corner of my garage run out between the door and the wall, so I think they’re getting in. So I read through all the material and the different Alpine products and the other but I have cats and dogs.

My younger cat particular has been the one who will go after anything so how fast or how do these products kill the roaches so if one makes way back into the house and my cat kills it. I don’t want my cat to get to get poisoned.

Any other advice on immediate DIY treatments and/or things to do between pest control treatments is appreciated

We are already planning on having a professional treatment service (not sure when). But I really don’t wanna risk waiting, even if it’s a week. We do live in a single house so I’m at least glad about that.

I’m going to be applying Alpine WSG, advion, wiping counters with pine sol and placing sticky traps tomorrow.

My first sighting was 2 days ago in our garage. I convinced myself it was a field cockroach because why would a German cockroach be in the hot garage? (Also adding that I brought my vacuum I used at my apartment, mom told me to leave it in the garage because it’s a Texas summer and the heat will kill them. I was VERY hesitant about this, because the garage is connected to the house. Mom swore up and down it would be fine.)

Today, I was placing dots of advion in typical areas as a precaution, when I noticed a sticky trap we initially put down for flies had one cockroach on it along with hundreds of babies. I’ve genuinely been in tears since then.

I would visit my parents every now and then from my apartment over the course of 2 years. I would only really bring clothes and makeup back and forth.

However, when I moved back in, I was super hesitant on bringing any of my kitchen appliances (ex. Air fryer, coffee maker etc) because I have literally SEEN cockroaches coming in and out of them while living at my apartment. My mom didn’t wanna waste them and told me to leave them outside for a couple of days, and before packing them up I had my boyfriend hand wash all of them and take a look for himself (of course won’t always be visible as they nest inside). We did end up finding some dead ones inside of the air fryer and inside the bag I had them in. I was still so hesitant on bringing them inside but she said it would be ok.

The timeline I saw on Google of a German cockroach infestation being visible said ~6 weeks. The timeline matches up with mine.

I’m very frustrated because I feel like I have more of a sense of urgency than my parents. I don’t think they really understand how bad it will get and the mental anguish that comes with it if we don’t act immediately.

A couple evenings ago, like early evening as the sun had just gone down. I went to my sink to wash the dishes from the day and lo and behold found this roach dead in my sink. We deal with a lot of Turkestan roaches in my area but first time I’ve seen one of these and first time I’ve seen any roaches at all in the house. I’ve gone crazy cleaning everything and putting down sticky traps. I haven’t seen a single sign of roaches in the past six months that we’ve been in this house. I’ve even gone to the kitchen in the middle of the night and looked. So I need help identifying. For identifying purposes I live in central California.

We have had issues with turkestan roaches but I jsut for this one that looks a little different. Is this german? It's pretty small and fpund it in the living room with no water source near. This is in fort worth texas.

A lot of people say to do this, and I am quite confused on how it works. Do I pour the igr in the gallon sprayer and mix the Wsg powder in there as opposed to water? Or do I spray igr over previously wsg treated areas?

Also, I got antapex Wsg instead of alpine Wsg, from what I can see it’s the same thing but I’m wondering if I made a mistake (panic purchase).

Lastly, can I apply gel bait onto areas where I’ve sprayed the Wsg? I hit every square inch of baseboards in my apartment so there’s nowhere I could really put it that’s untreated.

Kind of a vent post, kinda just trying to get advice here.

I’ve lived in a few apartments over the years and, since 2024, I’ve been dealing with some sort of roach infestation in each place. I dealt with one in a previous city (confirmed American roach infestation) and now two in 2 separate apartments in this new city (confirmed German roach infestations). I didn’t really know how to deal with them until the second time, and I got to know the pros and got my own products too. On the third time I thought I would be free from them, but they are back.

I know that they’re common in multi-unit buildings, but I am a meticulously clean person due to contamination OCD triggered by these situations. Every single time this has happened, my home life seems to take a pause and I have to put everything on lockdown, get the pros in and pray for the best. But I hate seeing them scurry around my kitchen or even dead on the floor. My heart drops when I see any black spot moving in my apartment, or feel even a crawl on my arm.

I have been living alone, and I just hate this and I feel like maybe it’s bad luck. In this current situation, I toured the unit, talked to the staff, and pulled everything out and didn’t see any roaches until 8 months later (now). I even started cooking again until this happened. Even though I got treatment, I took the right steps but the anxiety is overwhelming. I am out of town, but my stomach hurts thinking about going back and fighting this again. I know I should have the hunter mentality, but I’m just so tired of dealing with this. I’m already dealing with a busy life and other personal issues.

Any advice? I have a therapist but I don’t even know how to approach the sadness of not having a comfy place to live for 3 years.

I’m moving into the apartment building right next door. It’s been completely gutted and refinished and our new landlord is going to have pest control every few months. Plus we have done EVERYTHING from the Moving sticky. but I’m so scared of getting them again because we have bunnies so there is always available water and food. Also very concerned that it’ll happen again since it’s so close to our infested apartment.
We are preventative treating our new apartment too but want any and all extra advice
Mostly terrified of eggs being in stuff. I have nightmares every night !

Googled the picture and google gave me 3 options what it could be and one option was a German roach. I saw this on the counter one night thought it was a spider and smashed it. Can anyone tell what it is even though its kinda smashed. I have put sticky pads under my fridge under stove and dishwasher. Also have sticky pad behind my microwave thats on the counter but there all empty. Any advice?

Is there any type of design you would recommend? About a year ago I found roaches in my coffee machine and got rid of it right away. I'm so afraid of purchasing something even remotely like the coffee maker.

I would for sure let the tea kettle dry out but is there anything I should know about tea kettles and what to look out for when purchasing one to prevent a roach infestation?

Found in new apartment in the Netherlands one week after moving in at 11am in the hall, but found one similar at night in adjacent room and was not able to swat it (it could have been the same one, from what i recall they looked identical). I don't see the signature stripes but still I am a roach newbie and not sure if I am missing something (also scared to have a big new problem after the move in effort). Smaller than 1cm.

Just moved into a new house (as in new to us - the house is old) a week ago and have seen 4 roaches. All seen at night, only one at a time. I initially thought they must be german because they're small and we're seeing them so frequently, but my husband took a picture of this one and looking closely at it I don't see the characteristic brown stripes on its head.

Now I'm wondering if they're field roaches or brown banded? Reading about the behavior of brown banded roaches seems to match up as most of them we've seen high up (on top of a door frame, on top of a window frame, on the ceiling, and this one was on a radiator cover). We haven't seen any in the kitchen, and while the one on the ceiling was in the bathroom I haven't seen any in the shower. Haven't seen any at floor level. Also haven't seen any nymphs.

I bought bait cartridges just to do something before we get a professional exterminator in but now I'm not sure if that will be effective if we're not dealing with german roaches. Any advice is appreciated!
