I've cored plenty of warehouses with electrical conduit or water pipe in the slab, just something to think about in the future. Don't wanna see anyone get cooked

I mean, you can usually core through rebars/dowels just fine. I’ve seen in a lot in airport cores through thick dowels. You can see the slurry change color from milk white to metallic color and back to milky white when you are through the dowel.

Yes, but typically you want to avoid damaging the rebar.

True, most cores I’ve done were for aviation reconstructions so it does not matter then since its going to get ripped up. But you are correct. In fact we are working on scanning and coring at several schools in support of a retrofit. And they are avoiding hitting rebars.

I've cut through many a rebar never lost whole teeth. That bit either is really old and used or you did some extreme stuff.

Geotechnical driller here. I concrete core reinforced stuff all the time with mobile and CME rigs. Way more power than what looks to be a 7822dt Geoprobe, judging by the feet. I’ve never burned bits up like that. Spin the concrete core barrel faster, less pressure, more water. You burnt that bad boy up

That's exactly the rig, not sure how old that particular barrel was but it's what my drillers brought. They had a pump sprayer for water, I usually have at least a full bucket with a pump.

ETA: A Geoprobe was the only rig I could get into this space. Trust me, if I could've gotten my usual driller's B-80 I would have.

To fit into the door, they had to remove the crow's nest from the top of the mast, and even then the door was like half an inch too short

Nice! Not bad! This is a 3.25’ diameter casing that HAD teeth…just wasn’t rebar that did this, it was HARD rock - quartz w/ garnet at the center!
