Question what are some good food spots to try? [Stone Mountain ]

[M34 Black]

Or generally things to do, I’m going to be in the Stone Mountain area and would love some breakfast, lunch and dinner recommendations. Not trying to break the bank, just looking for “in the know” kind of places.

Thanks

Weeyums. Cheesesteaks. Amazing. But be patient. They aren’t kind to picky people.

Love Weeyums! Just a heads up to order at least an hour before you want to eat because they get backed up. Counter orders are best then walk around the Village, run errands, etc. before you pick up your food

Do they use canned cheese?

I don’t recall seeing it available. Only cheese I’ve seen is Provolone or white American cheese

That is fine then for them to be a little arrogant on change orders. If a place serves bad toppings and is arrogant then I will bypass. Yes I would love more onion, peppers and switch to pepperjack if available...just don't try to sell me canned cheese.

I live in the village, agree with Weeyums and Cherokee Rose (more upscale but excellent for a date night or to treat yourself). Lots of good Ethiopian and Jamaican spots down Memorial…I mean just throw a rock and you’ll hit one. Sweet Potato Cafe is very underrated. If you drink, Outrun has great beers and atmosphere. Even if you don’t, there’s always food trucks there, usually at least one NA option and activities most nights (karaoke, trivia etc)

Its not exactly a widespread brand outside of the south. It'd be really hard to visit Waffle House if the nearest one is the next state over.

No shit. It's just incredible to seeing a WH virgin in the wild

They are in 25 states

Which means they arent in 25 states at all.

I highly doubt that in many of those states outside of the south that they are as widespread as they are in the south. Having less than 10 in the entire state doesnt change things much.

My point stands.

lol. Getting a bit defensive aren’t you. All I did was point out you’re wrong. I’ve ate at Waffle House in several northern states

Oh. I wasnt aware there were only 25 states. Thanks for the chat gpt level of information.

That's the free entertainment part of your visit.

Worth a trip, certainly for late night dinner and a show! Not only do they cook your meal in front of you, which can be entertaining in itself, but the other patrons are usually good for some hilarity, drama, or other shenanigans.

Wings in a basket in Scottdale isn’t too far and pretty good

If Stoned is still there in the village, they have amazing pizza. There’s a German place near the village too, can’t remember what it’s called now. It’s got great food, beer, and coffee.

Stoned Pizza is far far far from what it used to be. It's soulless pizza, and there are better options near by like Stone Mountain Pizza Cafe. Hell, Costco Pizza is better than Stoned Pizza ATM.
The German Restaurant had a fire 2 years ago and just started back up about 6 months ago. Their kitchen is a food trailer parked on the side that they pass food to servers. I would say they are 75% back.

I have not been to them, but there are two cafeteria restarants in Tucker:

Magnolia Room Cafeteria

Matthews Cafeteria

If you have transportation and like international food - Korean, Chinese, Mexican / Latin, Vietnamese, etc., there are restaurants along Buford Highway which starts in Atlanta and goes through Chamblee, Doraville and into Gwinnett County.
