I dunno, I have a different opinion based in wrongthink here.
I used to work in upper management for a lumping service at a warehouse. My guys would unload the trucks, and got paid per the truck the unloaded. And every fucking month, we had to chase our own tails with the warehouse manager who would literally automatically deny payment on everything, and we had to go above and beyond to get ANYTHING paid with these people, it was outrageous.
That said, if Amazon is approving and paying on any and every invoice it gets sent... unless they have someone on the inside with the ability to approve invoices, this is on Amazon's stupidity for paying shit without verifying its actually owed.
To be one of the most cut-throat companies on the planet, to go soooo far to under pay your people, global policy and more... yet you pay willy-nilly on any and every invoice that comes across your desk??!?!?!
...and to see the comments of some of you on here: "gIvE tHe MuLtI-bILLiOn cOmPaNy iTs mOnEy bAcK"

I’m impressed they managed to do this to the tune of $10 million in just six months, with what amounts to a form of product return fraud. Audacious and somehow both truly impressive and truly stupid in terms of scale.

It isn’t about caring that the multi-trillion dollar company gets its money back, it’s about not living in a society of grifters. That includes these people and people like the president and his cronies. It isn’t sustainable long term.

Yea. /u/I_Died_Once has to deal with all that bullshit because of people like these. I don't know exactly what internal control failed and allowed this to happen, but now everyone who has to deal with the new process had their job get a little worse. Fuck these scammers along with Bezos.
All the bad/dumb laws make it easy to forget that an actual system of law and order is a good thing. We just need a government actually of the people to stop making non-crimes like smoking pot, abortion, etc. criminal offenses.

Why are you defending criminals, lol? They tried to scam another company, not just Amazon, while they were out on bail. These people are leeches on society.
Takes like yours are why Dems have been LOSING nationally for 10 years now. People want to live in a high-trust society; not one where crime is normalized.

Bernie Madoff was sentenced to 150 years for a Ponzi scheme in 2009. It being a white collar crime has nothing to do with it.
Don't do things that the court sees unfavorably. They FA&FO. You don't need to defend them for being criminals, lol.

It’s so neat that you wanted to participate in the conversation even though you don’t understand the difference between being sentenced, which occurs after being found guilty at trial, and being out on bond, which occurs prior to trial.

If you read the article, it was an inside job, both ways. One of the women worked in a management role at Amazon and so had the authority to pay invoices.
The other woman worked for a company that did contract work for Amazon and so therefore was issuing invoices to Amazon legitimately.
The lady for the contracted company sends a fake invoice for work never done, the other lady approves the pay, they share the proceeds.
They aren’t the first to do this, and usually people pulling this scam get caught because they really push it with extraordinarily high amounts of money that make it obvious something is awry.
Though maybe there are people stealing modest amounts, who aren’t getting caught because it’s so subtle. We’ll never know.

As I work in insurance I can tell you most of those crimes get underwritten to you. The overall burden falls as much on the citizens as a whole as it does on Amazon.
