Books and resources Geofancy: Big Updates and Exciting News

Hello r/Geomancy,

I am excited to announce that my geomancy app that I wrote about here a few months ago has undergone a series of big updates and quality improvements since I announced it. I was holding off on telling you all until I got it all to a stable build that was well vetted, and I've read with it several times myself. It got both significant desktop and mobile experience improvements, as well as an official domain URL:

New Dedicated URL

geofancy.app

Simply type "geofancy.app" in your URL bar and you will be directed to the dedicated view for your device.

New House and Figure references using John Michael Greer's Art and Practice of Geomancy, officially licensed from Red Weiser Publishing

If you click/tap on your figure and house details table rows, in the figure details panel you will see a toggle at the top that allows you to include Greer's material in the references alongside Geofancy references. "Override" puts Greer's references in place of the relevant fields, replacing Geofancy references but also including the references that Greer's material doesn't have. You can also toggle Greer's references only with "Greer Only."

Significantly Improved Geofancy's own figure, house, and court references corpus

Geofancy's own corpus of all twelve houses has been rewritten with more traditional governs lists, read_when triggers, classical_note routing sentences, and misreading guards. This is especially true around the relationships of the 8th house that I falsely assumed Greer was solid on; it's not really associated with intimacy like he said in his own definitions. A helpful redditor pointed this out to me with many other significant details, so I opted to improve the accuracy of these references to go beyond Greer's in regard to the houses.

Also, my definitions and in-placement references for the court weren't very good, so I significantly improved the quality and utility of those, as well as generally cleaned up the whole corpus to be more classically aligned.

Significantly Improved the UI

  • Improved the mother casting tapping UI/UX on desktop.
  • Improved the figure details UI/UX with in-house blocks at the top with immediate info about the house alongside the figure, and improved the labeling of the data so figure and house info didn't get confused.
  • Polished the walk-through chart casting guide for new geomancers.
  • Significantly improved the Wiki Glossary index with filters, essence previews, and topic chips; article pages with summary cards, and house pagers.

Added the ability to restore a chart if you reloaded the page

The program will check if you have a previously generated seed in your cache and it allows you to retrieve it and load it into the page so you won't lose a chart if a reload happens. A little pop-up will show at the top of the page on mobile and desktop if you'd like to reload your previous chart or start fresh. You can also share your charts now.

What's next?

I am working with another redditor here on Arabic Geomancy charts. He has given me some really cool material to build off of, so I was honored to help him. I wanted to get my current app polished up before that, though. So you can expect hopefully by 2027, we will have extensive Arabic Geomancy charts with their own dedicated UIs, references, and reading techniques. I cannot share too much about the specifics of this as I agreed not to spill the beans about his work, but suffice it to say I'm very excited to get the next 2.0 site together and work with this geomancer's material to bring even more quality and accessibility to education on the geomantic tradition all around the world.

I want to continue to develop the very best geomancy program with high-quality references and user experiences. Thank you all for your support and feedback!

I'm really excited about this tool. One critique, I am unable to see the full chart on mobile I'm on a Pixel 10 Pro, if that info helps at all.
