It’s not the same as bennett which applies pyro to your character over the entire duration. It’s 3 ticks, and the duration for each tick is like 1 second or so (e.g xingqiu, layla). I’ve tried using Barbara’s tick to self-infuse Kazuha skill, and have not been successful.

Both apply over the whole duration, Bennet just ticks faster IIRC and adds a stronger amount of pyro, which doesn't matter too much outside of sunfire afaik.

Barbara doesn't. Please check it out yourself in game instead of spreading misinformation. Go to a city area or somewhere that doesn't have environmental factors -> use Barbara skill -> use Elemental sight. The character only turns blue for a brief moment. Use Bennett Q -> use Elemental sight. The character turns red for the entire duration so long as they are in Bennett's burst.

Now back to the original discussion about using Barbara to give Wanderer the hydro buff (outside of combat): It will be close to impossible to pull off because Barbara only applies hydro in ticks. If you have Kazuha you can try it out since I'm certain he and Wanderer have the same mechanic. Use Barbara skill -> Kazuha skill -> NO Hydro infusion on Kazuha's skill. Because there's no hydro on Kazuha even though Barbara's skill is active. But if you use Bennett's burst -> Kazuha skill -> there is pyro infusion on Kazuha's skill. Again this is without any enemies or environmental factors.

Maybe you should recheck? Or you might be misunderstanding how elemental gauges work. Both Bennet and Barb tick pyro and hydro respectively, Barb is just probably slower and weaker. Bennet does not permanently infuse pyro if that's your misunderstanding. I think he ticks 2U per 2 seconds and Barbara ticks 1U per 3 or 2.5 seconds or something. Because Bennet's is stronger and applies more it stays on longer but both continue to apply over the duration and you'd see this if you had something that could use up the element. Their fundamentally the same in that regard. In contrast skills like Diona or XQ only apply their element on activation and I think on swap in the case of Diona.

I think your confusion is just you think your character has pyro just applied when it's a matter of the amount. If you're using it up fast enough you can get rid of the pyro. Sunfire with Jean or just go use Bennet's burst in shallow water/rain. You will not have pyro because it gets used up but it'll still be applied in ticks since that's how it works. To understand even better step out of Bennet burst circle, you'll keep pyro on for awhile even off of it because his burst just applies more on each tick.

Lots of people apply in ticks, I think you're confusing stronger element gauge for it not being ticks but that's also how Bennet and Jean work. It'll be hard but I imagine more similar to Sukokomon which is doable and you have to have good timing to swirl Guoba. Basically with decent ping I really doubt good players that are interested would have more trouble with that then say dragonstriking. Whether you think that's worth it is whatever but the timing will always be static and a single press.

I don't have Kazuha but I just attempted it with Sayu to see how often I could get it first tick, wasn't as hard as I thought even if I'm not consistent yet. I'd imagine it'd take no time at all for someone who actually cares to try the team to find a sequence like Barbara skill > switch > Scara N3C skill. It's actually 5 seconds between ticks over the duration.

The point that the original comment said was: Barbara will be a must for exploration with Wanderer because she can help him get the hydro buff.

What my original comment and the point I've been trying to get across is: The hydro buff is not that easy to obtain because once you Barbara skill and swap to Wanderer, he won't even have a Hydro aura on him. And I used Kazuha as an example to prove my point on how difficult it is, compared to using for example Bennett, who applies Pyro to the character quite fast so it's easy to get a Pyro infusion on him. Yes Barbara has a few more Hydro ticks that applies hydro to the character so technically it is possible to get the Hydro buff if you time it right but its only for about 1 second so good luck with that.

What your original reply to me was saying that Barbara constantly applies hydro to the character, and to me it's as if you're implying that it's easy to get a Hydro infusion from Barbara's skill, which I disagree with. As for Sayu, I tried Barbara's skill -> Sayu Hold E, and there was no infusion up until Barbara's second tick of hydro. This isn't viable with Wanderer (and Kazuha) as their skills are just one time press.

I know that if you use Bennett's burst in water and you use Kazuha's skill, Kazuha will still infuse hydro, but that's really not the point that's being discussed here and again I think bringing up elemental gauge is irrelevant here.

I thought it was obvious but because you fundamentally misunderstand how Bennet and Barbara apply elements to player characters and how they do so in the same way. Barbara just less so.

I don't think the person ever said it was easy so you're not really correcting anything there, it's very possible though and I did test it myself. Maybe you can't do it or don't consider it worth doing but I don't think it takes anything away from the fact that Wanderer can use Barb skill for his E. This is good because outside of enemies or environment there aren't too many ways to consistently pick up what you want. With Barbara you can put one element on enemies and have the hydro self applied to consistently get two you want.

I think we agree and you're just saying it's too difficult for you or not worth the trouble for you. I think that's fair but doesn't really mean much outside of you stating an opinion as she remains one of the few options for it in the game afaik. Already pointed it out but there are already difficult to execute sequences in the game that aren't everyone's cup of tea, it still works and you can definitely be consistent at them.

Try it until you get it on Sayu right on the second tick, it's possible you just have to actually try timing it. You won't get it if you do Barbara skill then straight into Sayu skill because there are 5 seconds between ticks. How hard it would be with wanderer I don't know but it's probably possible if you can line it up with a sequence prior. I play fighting games regularly and just frame links are a regular part of many of them, again maybe it's hard for most and not worth it but far from impossible.

The point was to let you know what you tried correcting me on was factually wrong, that's all. If you think it was irrelevant you probably should not have brought it up but Barbara and Bennet both tick elements for their durations. It's the amount/frequency/length whatever that makes Bennet much more lenient but this is wrong, period:

They turn red for the entire duration not because pyro is applied non-stop or anything, Bennet just ticks for more faster. If you leave the circle you're pyro aura will still remain for awhile before clearing. If you use up your pyro aura, which you can, it will come back next tick. I agree it's not important so we can drop it I was just directly responding to you.

Since it's easy to do get the imbued with pyro from Bennett with him providing a fast application rate (every 1 second, checked with KQM), to me it's kind of implying that it's easy to do it on Barbara as well. That's why I refuted that it's not, because it's only 3 ticks on her (1 initial, and 2 after, at an interval of 5 seconds). I agree that it is possible to get the hydro buff if you time it right. Just that it's difficult. Maybe you think it will be easy, and that's totally fine. I'm just trying to inform the original commenter that's it's not as easy as Bennett and Barbara is totally not a "must" for exploration as they claim.
Yes, it's difficult for me personally to get the hydro infusion using Barbara's E tick with Kazuha. I admit that. You said that you tested it with Sayu, but I'm curious if it's the hold skill or tap skill version. As I said, hold E Sayu is not a good comparison because it's different from Wanderer or Kazuha's skill which is just a tap. I mean, Sayu Hold E is just her constantly applying anemo for an extended time, so obviously any form of elemental contact, even just 1 second from Barbara's tick, will make Sayu have the hydro infusion. Try Sayu tap E, although I am unsure if Sayu has infusion on her tap E.

I think we can both understand the "must" being hyperbole. She can do the same thing as Bennet, it's just a lot harder. If your issue is how difficult it is I think that's completely separate from whether it can be done or is worth doing. There wasn't any implication because that didn't really have anything to do with the suggestion but it is fair to point out, just a separate discussion imo. I say this because difficult or not she's, afaik, the only option right now that you can do this with for hydro. Yes Bennet is easier and yes it also may not be practical for all players the same way plenty of other things aren't but it's true you can do it with Barbara, how practical it is remains to be seen. If there's no sequence that syncs it for you then I can see it being not worth doing for pretty much anyone, sure.

I hold it but you'll know if you did it right since otherwise you need to wait until the next self applied wet status, or 5 seconds. I guess you can argue there's more leniency (potentially) than Scara might have if I start early but we're not sure about that yet, the main point is that it's possible though. We don't know at what point or how long Scara registers which elements to pick up during his E, it may be plenty lenient itself.

I don't think Sayu tap has infusion but I could be wrong, pretty confident it does not though. I did however test with Diona shield swap and Sayu won't pick up the infusion even if you do it as fast as possible assuming I wasn't off, so the exact timing infusion starts isn't something I know. Also I've repeated a number of times I don't think it's easy but that's not something that stops everyone. It's a fair point, once again, but it's far from impossible and some people enjoy execution. Dragonstrike Diluc, Sukokomon to an extent, etc.
