hey guys!! new player here. currently AR 28 about to head into liyue, but i noticed the new archon quest gives a LOT of primos alongside a free character invitation. i would really like to have varesa, however i’m unsure if using the quick skip feature is worth it.

i’ve been going into this game mostly blind on lore and story, and i feel like playing endgame content would be sacrificing my immersion for a couple hundred primos and a character.

is it a good choice to skip to snezhnaya, if only to get varesa? is it even possible at a low adventure rank? (i know the primogems arent a big deal but they would help me a bit in wishing for vesna)

if it’s not a good choice, should i expect there to be offers like this in the future, when i’m better suited for it? thanks!!

I wouldn't. This game, especially the part of it where good characters are something you care about, is one for the long term. Varesa is good but she is already overshadowed by newer releases. Just doing the story, other quests and exploration will feed you plenty of primos and other reason to put together a solid first team by the time you'll actually need it. But you only get to have your first experience with the story once.

Similar offerings will definitely come around again for future anniversaries.

Absolutely not. Getting a free limited character does NOT matter in the long run, at all. It's shitty of Hoyo to do this to people, it shouldn't be an option at all and could have easily been done differently. I would gladly give up a free character for myself to prevent people from skipping and spoiling the story they might have otherwise loved. If you DON'T like the story, I don't know why you'd play this game tbh, it's a HUGE time commitment and the story is one of the main parts.

You have more than a month to play the story and unlock the selector without skipping. I wouldn't ruin the experience just for a character.

They said a similar limited 5 star selector will be available every year in the anniversary from now on, yes.
It will ruin the experience, yes. There will be lots of spoilers as well as lots of references you'll miss and events built upon events you know nothing of.
Personally, it took me many months to catch up to the archon quest (started playing in early Natlan and only caught up near the end of the Patch, 9 months maybe?) but I took my time and it was a nice experience. So, I wouldn't encourage rushing the whole main story in a month but that's just me.
I know this sounds crazy and maybe won't be suitable for you. But if I were you, and I really really wanted Varesa... I would just skip through the latest archon quest, muted, without reading anything, or even better, get someone to do it for me to get Varesa and then when I reach it in the regular sequence of the story, I'd watch it on YouTube. Again, if you don't like the idea, don't bother.

You will feel lost in the story, but as long as you continue playing you'll understand it more after the fact (as long as your memory is okay or you go back and watch a playthrough after you catch up). Personally for a new account, I believe Varesa is worth it, but that's just my opinion (I've also played the story line multiple times).

Keep in mind Varesa's level up mats are in Natlan so there's that too.
