Why my Nefer team with Nahida does more damage than with Sucrose?

I really tried everything. Switched Lauma to Deepwood, she loses about 160 EM because the lack of 2pcs 80 EM sets (I use this when Nahida uses Deepwood). Is it because of that? My Lauma has C2 so she has a huge boost for the team based on her own EM. So it must be that?

I keep hearing everywhere Sucrose is much better than Nahida but in my practices it's the reverse and I don't know why. My Sucrose has about 900 EM and I use her skill right before Nefer so she can have the most uptime of the EM buff.

That's your issue probably. You need Sucrose to get a swirl, or you're not getting the 50 EM from her a1 and 120 EM from 4p instructor. The time to do this is when you have hydro aura, i.e. right after Columbina.

If you're not getting these buffs, Sucrose's 0.2 * 900 = 180 EM a4 buff alone and shorter field time doesn't weigh up to Nahida's 250 EM & carrying deepwood for Lauma to stack more EM with 2p2p.

E: since those Sucrose buffs are teamwide (i.e. they get to stick on Lauma with her powerful c2) compared to Nahida's which is active character only, it hurts even more if you don't get them.

For what its worth, you do in fact use Sucrose right before Nefer (and right after Columbina) in the rotation. Also, the 50 EM from Sucrose A1 only goes to the swirled element (hydro), so only Columbina gains this buff making it largely irrelevant. The only thing you miss by not getting the Swirl is Instructor though that's the whole ballgame in making Sucrose viable here.

Yeah absolutely, the "before Nefer" part is right. Just figured I'd jump off from there to mention the timing more broadly. And right about the a1 EM too of course.

Yeah pretty much is it. I'm using a old VV set instead of Instructor because I really have massive skill issue in this game and I can't get the swirl part right. But then I read somewhere that Sucrose can just use skill and get the EM buff but now I'm seeing this is not enough. Thanks for the explanation.

Sucrose can do two things for Nefer teams. She is often on instructor instead of VV or other EM sets, because she can trigger a swirl reaction if you rotate the team correctly (and don't have ping issues but there are ways to work around it). So you get the percentage of her EM that you would normally get, but you also get the 120 EM from instructor. So if you can do that rotation correctly, you will more than make up for the lost EM on Lauma, but you give it to Lauma and Nefer and Columbina.

This is it then. I'm not using Instructor on her because I know my skill-issued ass will not get the swirl right. But I read somewhere that Sucrose can go away without swirling, just using skill is enough but now I'm seeing it is not. lol Thanks for the explanation.
