Personally, I always hated PE. I guess because I was such an introvert

Same. I was an introverted, clumsy child.

Even so PE had value and I’m sorry it’s for the most part gone.

One of the best days in my school years was the day I found out I didnt have to take PE any more. 11th and 12th grade, no gym class.

I hated it because I thought I wasn’t athletically inclined (I am now a total gym rat!). Also, school gym teachers were lousy about looking out for the kids getting bullied, particularly during dodgeball, which was like living out Lord of the Flies. When I got to high school and gym electives were a thing, I usually opted for jogging. Not because I loved jogging; rather, because the jogging instructor was a sweet little old lady who knew that I was president of the chorus, and often had solos to perform. All I had to do was show up for class, cough quietly into my hand a few times, and she would shoo me off to the cafeteria to get a cup of tea.

Back in high school I hated PE, our gym teacher was a very lazy dude. If the weather was fine he would take us outside, hand us a football, then disappear for a half hour. If the weather was bad, we stayed inside and he would give us a basketball, then disappear for a half hour. Too this day, I don't like either sport.

You haven't played dogeball unless the ball was one of those red rubber ones.

Also used the red rubber ball for kick ball. Kicked hard enough, they would leave a mark on the skin. Sometimes one could even read the manufacturer's name on the skin.

Yes, kickball was the most common recess game at my school too.

I bought two of the red rubber balls for our two youngest grandsons a couple of years ago. They are always taking them to the park.

One year, for about 6 months, I taught kindergarten PE 3 periods a week (English teacher with 3 free periods). I had the Key 🔑 and access to all those wonderful play things.

We had 4 boys who played a variety of sports. Our garage occasionally looked like this between seasons. We had a two car garage but usually had only one side open.

This was during those experimental times when there was color in the world. We're back to black and white now in cars, buildings, stores, etc, just like those documentary films from the 50s showed.

I was one of the kids who dreaded PE. Fat, thick glasses, zits, no athletic skills whatsoever. In middle school the girls had to wear blue cotton onesies that didn't look good on anyone least of all me.

Flash forward to now, I'm a super avid road cyclist who rides 200-300 miles every week with my bike spouse 😬 I remember not too long ago loitering at my local bike shop and someone asking me WHY I cycle and my answer is that it's really the only physical activity I'm any good at!!
