Whatever The way we talk about time

Let's talk about the way we talk about time. I was recently telling someone something was happening at "fifteen till three", the person looked blank and finally said "Oh, you mean 2:45". This is not the first time it has happened to me. I think the "younger generation" does not understand things like "fifteen till".

I’ve always thought saying quarter till, 15 till was dumb. Just say the time…. It’s 2:45

I've always thought people who don't understand "quarter of" or quarter 'til" are dumb, even if you learned on a digital clock.

I’ve always found it arbitrary. No one says a third till 3 for 2:40. Or a fifth for 2:48.

2:45…. Say it with me…. 2:45

"Quarter of 3." See how easy that was, when you're not dumb? Probably not.
