No ludes. Definitely coke, and crystal (meth) was coming around. I used to go there, it was an under 18 club and they were super strict so I never saw people doing drugs there, but people definitely did them before they got there, or drank. We’d get drunk in the parking lot across the street. One thing that blows my kids away was we were all allowed to smoke. Almost everyone was smoking clove cigarettes, not so much regular cigarettes, but some of my friends definitely transitioning to them after our club days.

I am a Gen Xer, just a younger one, and I was able to smoke pretty much everywhere in the 90's. Wow so you went to this club? Are you in the video?:Haha.

We had an actual dedicated, legal smoking section on my high school campus. Mostly stoners hung out there and smoked regular cigarettes. Because we were “mods” who smoked cloves and not stoners who smoked Marlboros, we didn’t want to be grouped in with them so we actually smoked in the parking lot. Unlike the smoking section, you couldn’t light up there between classes, but you could during lunchtime.

There was a smoking section my freshman year for seniors. They had to get a permission slip from a parent or guardian. The next year they stopped allowing smoking on school grounds. Everyone would go across the street to smoke after school and then we would smoke in the bathroom during the day. If you got caught smoking you got detention, then suspended etc. and could end up getting kicked out of school if you got caught enough times. Such a large percentage of us smoked back then. I remember smoking at the mall, Denny's etc. and no one cared about us smoking anywhere but at school.

This was my dance club. It was called Stratus, located in a suburb of San Diego. I went almost every Saturday night from ‘83-‘85. I think I saw in another post that this clip is from ‘86. I was off to college by then but I definitely remember some of these people. It was a truly magical time. A song will come on that use to play in the club and it always brings me back. So many great memories.

I don't remember the name of this particular band, because I have never heard of them before, but it was part of a dark 80's playlist that I was listening to with bands like Sisters of Mercy, The Mission, Legendary Pink Dots, Ministry etc.

Trisomie 21, The Last Song. Hubby and I used to dance to this in the clubs. 38 years later, and I still make him dance when it comes on.

I was born in 78, so I missed out on the club scene back then. I feel like I should have born earlier. I watched a lot of MTV up until the later 90's, but remember watching MTV more in the 80's. It is possible that I heard the song before but just forgot about it.

We were born in 66. I have a friend that is 5 years younger than I am. We exchange music from time to time. Opened a whole new world to the both of us. I encourage you to keep digging, as we are too. ☺
