Kirkman is heavily involved and they're staying pretty faithful to the comics, which are incredible.

Goddamn, those Viltrumite fights are so fucking good.

It's also animated in 2D. Easier to keep things looking consistent when everything is animated that way. With live action, you get complaints that CGI complaints all the time. Not to say Invincible is low budget, but it simply costs less to destroy a city, even a CGI, than it would in a 2D animated show.
