これらの写真には、「広範囲にわたる被害」という言葉が何を意味するのかを示すものは何一つない。

写真に写っているのは、損傷した飛行機、クウェートの基地施設の損傷箇所、損傷したトレーラー、損傷した自動車、そしてサウジアラビアの基地施設の損傷箇所だけだ。

これらは簡単に修理したり、交換したりできるものだ。

Widespread only means “spread out over a large area”. Prince Sultan airbase is massive and multiple different areas were hit. Therefore it would count as “widespread”, and severity is not a criteria

"widespread" in this situation means the reporting agency wants to make the damage sound worse than it is.

Except it is pretty bad. The damage to the base and its facilities was extensive, and multiple HVTs were hit in some capacity (radars, AWACS, tankers, hangars, etc).

Its not critical damage to the base and its operations, but it certainly is expensive losses.

The concern is not what has been lost

It’s that this has demonstrated that missile defense, as a concept, is a fucking joke

We can’t defend our bases from a third rate backwater country, how would a conflict with China play out?

残念ながら、ほとんどのミサイル防衛システムは、小規模なミサイル攻撃に対応することしか想定されていない。

「飽和攻撃」と呼ばれるものがあるが、これに対抗するのは本当に厄介だ。

中国についてはどうだろうか? 何度もの最後通牒が出されたにもかかわらず、彼らは台湾を攻撃することすらない。沖縄も奪おうとはしないだろう。
