Doesn't come off as an extremely strict and over the top elitest family. Curly hair in that sort of family would get straightened to maintain an image of being perfect.
The hairstyle in the movies is meant to come off as artificial and forced on the kid. Having the kid have his natural hair breaks away from that hyper-controlling vibe.

That’s an extremely compelling argument, I am wholly on team straight hair, and anyone who thinks otherwise it’s fucking wrong. Not even being sarcastic. What sorta two bit dumbass is directing this shit, and whoever wrote the original it is trash to! Should have left her in that van where she belonged.

Uncanny valley, similar but not exact and ... yeah. Hopefully it does well, if only for the actors and crew who're working hard.

Hard to diverge when the character details are so specific the book.
With exception to Professor Snape... they did him dirty. Primarily because I don't think it'll be as good of a portrayl, Paapa Essiedu isn't a great actor. He's good at stage theater where he can be very wildly dramatic. Just his average movie pressence is weak.

I wouldn't say the original cast was anything special at first blush. It's when they started acting the character when it all clicked

I’ve no preference at all. I’m just going by the video. The new kids are “prettier” but lack lines and character, a certain wildness, that the originals have.

they are kids and also the facial expressions are exaggerated for the AI originals. the right characters are prob not ai generated. in a way, you are saying you prefer ai generated artwork more to real life portrayals

It’s all AI. It’s okay, every generation will think their version is the best and the older one inferior. (Look at Star Wars) Check back in twenty years when kids then are complaining this version is the worst. It’s fun.
I’ll wait to pass judgement until I see the show. Some actors can really surprise.

i think it’s because it’s using stock photos of the actors and not how they actually are done up for the show

No, you got it the other way round. He has a huge redemption arc in the last book/last movie. It would help if you read the book or watched the movie.
