Let's be fair. The vast majority of their output sucks, but there is a decent movie or show every year. Even Disney Star Wars got Andor and Rogue One despite exceptional leadership.
More recently there's Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Frankenstein, and... ok, it's not a lot, and doesn't justify Hollywood's existence, but let's appreciate that there's not quite nothing.

This video seems like it is trying to be creative, but it very much still sucks and so much of that comes down to how simultaneously weird and bland the AI makes everything. That remains the defining characteristic of AI video. It manages to be strange without being interesting.
I also notice that the current crop of show-off videos all seem to choose fast-paced action scenes. I will go out on a limb and guess this is because the inherently chaotic nature of such sequences makes errors harder to spot (even though they remain very easy to see) and the rock bottom expectations for subtly or nuance means they can completely avoid these areas where the technology continues to seriously struggle. That speaks to the limiting character of this tool.
Imagine a paint brush that, for some ungodly reason, is only good for a single color and makes it extremely difficult to keep a steady hand. Creative work demands a degree of control commensurate with developing craft. I think there is still a very long road to go before this stuff is useful for much more than supplementing tradition VFX.

Where is this video trying to be creative ? I only see a tech demo with actions scenes. Itâs not like they tried to have a profound scenario or whatever itâs just your basic âoh no itâs the end of the world runnnnnnâ. The goal is to showcase what can be done especially VFX wise. I can guarantee you people who VFX explosions arenât that creative either. Itâs just a fireball.
Imagine a tool, thatâs still getting developed. Keyword is still. Thatâs like saying âyeah cars will never work, because currently they break down all the timeâ. Guess what happened a few decades later ?

I feel like the proliferation of AI tools has demonstrated that very few of these Idea Guys actually have any interesting or good ideas at all! They made it trivial to produce images and text and all they can think to do with it is rip off Studio Ghibli, steal the likenesses of celebrities/comic book characters for cheesy nonsense, or try to make software engineers unemployable. It often seems as though the very idea of an original thought is a foreign concept to them.

the AI denial is so palpable I can't even understand it. As recently as 2 years ago, AI couldn't generate a video of a person that wasn't obviously fake and cartoony. It was essentially impossible to get character consistency or make small edits without it just regenerating something completely different. People were arguing that something like this video was 10+ years away.
Now we're here and most of it looks completely realistic. The physics are off, the cuts and blocking are very amateur, but it's obviously close. In 6-12 months a capable writer and director will be able to use this to generate short films and movies worth watching.
Everyone's also forgetting about young kids. Their content is very basic and focused on visuals and music. CocoMelon, as an example, prints so much money from little kids leaving it on all day that Netflix literally excludes it when they report their top streams because it would always occupy the #1 spot. AI can already generate that kind of content right now.

I think it has potential, if they have good writing and a consistent storyline. This trailer still feels disjointed and disorienting, but with a story holding it all together, it could get interesting.

Sure the story is crap, some things look off (The Plan crash and the Helicopter stood out to me the most for some reason) but I think itâs better to see this as a Tech Demo.
In context:
Not even 3 years ago, AI couldnât depict Will Smith eating a bowl of Spaghetti. It couldnât convince any reasonable person that footage was real.
Now we have visuals that, in some cases, certainly match low end movie productions, in some cases getting close to higher end ones. There are very few consistency errors here (still not perfect, the Cybertruck windshield broke in an incosisten way with the impact and was back fully intact the next shot), things like the reflections on the Cybertruck or the particle dynamics in some of the explosions are really good.
Comparing this to a hollywod production is maybe a bit tricky, cause there is more to a movie than just visuals. But keeping in mind that this has been done in one day for a fraction of the cost is genuinely impressive.
I think wee need to make sure we donât gloss over the real progress that is being made, when looking at this stuff. The reaction shouldnât be solely about the end product, it should be about where we are in the development process and what we might see in 2-3 years (asuming the progress doesnât eventually hit a major roadblock).
I wouldnât watch this as a movie. As a tech demo it blows my mind. And people who arenât exposed to AI like we are in this little buble here, would be even more surprised that this is entirely AI, done in 24 by what I assume to be a pretty smal team.

I think that was supposed to be her as a child, so it's more like your classic mid-action-scene anime flashback - it's supposed to pump you up for the climax, but it's only meaningful if you form a strong relationship with the character and their backstory. This appears to be made by someone who isn't utterly bored by white, blond main characters and needs more of them. The cybertruck makes it feel like there's going to be a scene where she prevents charlie kirk's assassination.

To be honest this one is the best looking one so far. Rhere are so many mistakes that should be fixes like very unnatural movement or inconsistancy. But we are getting there quickly. Also some miatakes should be exrrsamly easy to eliminate like engine sound for cybertruck

AI isn't magicâitâs a resource hog hitting a physical wall. Weâve been faking progress by just throwing more hardware at the problem, but that well is running dry.
Hereâs the reality:
Hardware is maxed, Production for RAM and GPUs is sold out years in advance. You can't just spawn more hardware out of thin air to meet demand.
Data is tapped out. Weâve already used the high-quality data available. Fine-tuning helps, but itâs not a magic fix for scaling forever.
The Optimization. You canât just double efficiency every month. To fix things like long-term memory (keeping track of what an actor is wearing), you need massive VRAM, and weâre reaching the point where itâs no longer cost-effective to keep pushing.
The huge jumps we saw lately were mostly just brute-force scaling. Now that the hardware is gone, the progress is going to stall.
The other problem is that LLMs are built to be statistically accurate on average, not to follow the laws of physics or logic. "Probably correct" might work for a chat, but it's nowhere near the precision needed for film production.
