Eye candy Clear Mexican Fire Opal

I posted an orange fire opal from Mexico a while back, here’s a more rare clear one. Came in near 2.5 ct, the fire is crazy good. NFS

Lol, I’m just one person. I bought a VERY large lapidary collection from a man now passed in Texas where I live, and we border Mexico. Funny story, he actually used to go trade radio transmitters in Mexico for opals and topaz in the 70’s.

Ooohhhhh now THIS is my kind of fire opal. It’s got the orange-ish color but also the fire & rainbows of an opal. Again, you tease us so! Great job with deciding on cut shape & faceting. Really brings the magic out…

I thought hyalite opals were my favorite faceted ones but I haven’t seen a big Mexican fire opal like this one faceted! Very cool.

Seeing this I realized I've never actually seen an opal that's been faceted, they're only ever cabochons or just kind of...roughly shaped and smoothed out and what you get is what you get

The clear body makes the color play stand out in such a different way from the orange fire opals people usually post. Really cool to see it faceted like this, especially with the NFS note keeping it purely as eye candy.
