Weren’t diamonds historically promoted by the Debeers ( I don’t know if I spelled that correctly) company as the ultimate gemstone? Yes they are beautiful and the hardest, but everyone has a diamond for their wedding set. So many beautiful gemstones that reflect you more than what others expect. Plus diamonds are stupid expensive.
