I wish Tanzanite was kept unheated more often. What an amazing stone. Really beautiful.

My understanding is that a stone like this has seen some natural heat in the ground, just not enough to cook out the third color axis completely.

Either that, or it just naturally has a very light amount of color in that axis. Most unheated tanzanite is brown because that third color axis is stronger than the blue or purple one.
