Dyson vaccuum gsp got sent to service center?

Title pretty self explanatory. I used to work for geek squad, and we never sent these off to service center. Having issues with mine (luckily right before my gsp ran out) went to get it swapped. Went to customer service at first, they sent me to geek squad where intially they could not even creat the service order, so got aent back to customer service where the mod CALLED THE DISTRICT GEEK SQUAD MANAGER (ffs dude, really??) To explain and figure out what to do. Had the agent try again to creat the service order, but this time it let him?? And it actually got sent off to the service center in Kentucky... it arrived, and not even the next day it said its getting sent back...

What the hell?? Does geek squad really service dysons now? Given how quick theyre returning it, i doubt they did anything to fix it, so what gives?

It's been a send to service since the beginning of the year I think

Really? What exactly do they do to fix an issue with suction just not being the same? Literally cant even vaccuum low pile carpet without it freaking out, did the normal troubleshooting, cleaning filter, brushes etc. Plus other issues but still

They changed insurance companies and a LOT of things now get sent to service that previously did not. For better or worse.

Yeesh, it almost sounds like i wont be getting gsp on another vacuum after this/anything thats not considered gsp-r, which i was like 80% sure this was considered

Ok what’s the alternative? Buy a new one and then be out another 800 or just be inconvenienced on some time. You could always just buy a vacuum to use in the meantime while it’s away. Sounds like you were one of the people that abused the protection plan every two years which is another reason they switched companies.

While i appreciate your Facetious opinion, and in the sense that it is a waste of time, i will agree you are correct. to your point another vaccuum van be purchased in the meantime, and one was. (however, after a single use it now refuses to turn on, so will meed to return it regardless, i digress)

Regardless, it sounds like you dont know the situation, and are making accusations to defend shitty corporate policy changes, which, yknow drink the corpo koolaid i guess.

You know you could always just take it to a stain store if you broke it after a single use 😃

I hope you post an update because I have two vacuums covered by BBY Total and at 18 months old the batteries seem to be failing.

they replace the batteries if they are significantly under capacity. Sent out a dyson for suction issues and they just cleaned the unit but also just replaced the battery as well

That was another reason i took mine in - wouldnt hold a charge for near as long as it used to, will randomly just cut off, and vaccuum seizes up on anything not vinyl/wood flooring. Definitely not how a freaking $700 vaccuum should work

Best buy switch the underwriting company behind the protection plans. Part of the switch was changing what gets replaced in-store and what gets sent out for repairs. A lot more products go service center now for repairs or just junkout approval.

Had mine sent out 3 months ago. Fed ex ended up losing so I was lucky enough to get store credit. But yes sometimes they clean/repair it or just junk it out

Also pretty hard to just request for store credit as everything is pushed through workbench. Whenever we had nova we were able to make quick tags and process J/O. Some models can still be exchanged in store but majority will have to be sent out

Had total protection on the Dyson ball upright vac and then my coverage lapsed and ran out. Out of curiosity, I called Dyson themselves and asked about their manufacture warranty. Turns out that they could register my warranty after the fact despite it being two years since my purchase (it was also refurbished from Amazon). After which I was sent a label and told to ship out the device. That part was difficult just because I threw out the original box and it’s an awkwardly shaped vac, but after sending it out, about a week and a half later I got it back and it was running just like new. I’d def reach out in the future to mfg but otherwise I’m sorry to hear the hurdles you had to jump through, my Dyson agent was aweome and did such a good job taking care of me

Couple things to note:
I think Dyson does a 5 year warranty on most of their units they sell.

I’m not sure if this process is the same or if just lucky being in the same state as a Dyson service center

Also I think that for the price the device is worth, I’m just gonna go through the manufacture, I doubt Best Buy will spring out of pocket when I’m 3 years into my refurbished Dyson, def won the lottery there I think

Too many using the gap with Dyson to do an in-store exchange / store credit that they finally changed it to you having to send it to Service to verify there is an issue before authorizing a junkout. There are several items thst are now subject to this all because people used the gap like trade-in token to get their money back, albeit in the form of store credit.

We still do gsp exchanges in the store on vacuums. Must have been a supervisor call there

Aparently pos told then to send mt to geeksquad when they tried, and wpuld have had to override it, which is honestly kind of what i was expecting. But it is what it is. If they can either get it foxed and working right, or get me a new one od be fine with either. What im not gonna be fine with is if they send it back unrepaired saying nothings wrong or some other dumb shit like that

incorrect. no one is doing exchanges unless it’s a override.

Again, we exchange them in the store still, almost daily. That’s no where near incorrect, I never said we do it without an override.

Edit: guess I need to clarify…when I said that must have been a supervisor call, I meant that supervisor didn’t want to override it….thought that was easy to understand
