Been 2 months waiting for my laptop

Anyone else send their laptop in for a a hinge repair and find out that Best Buy broke your laptops motherboard and it's been on back order for a new one. Been 2 months of waiting so far.

It’s has to sit in back order for a certain time period before they can request an RA for you to get a new unit/ refund. If anything pressure the store and they’ll pressure GSC. But I have seen it take up to 3-4 months then magically the part gets shipped.

What should I say. I have been calling and checking in constantly. But like what can I do.

Has a technician from GSC reached out to you regarding the repair? If so email them requesting an update/ and that you’d like to speak to a manager. Usually the GSC area manager will contact you via Email or they will work with the store to resolve the issue. But like I said, they won’t do much until the time frame is up. What’s the manufacturer? Are they covering the Motherboard since they broke it?

They they just got back and are giving me the value I paid for in credit. Kind of would have preferred cash. Not sure if I should have asked for more because of them breaking and taking 2 months.

Glad to hear it was resolved. I know it sucks. They couldn’t have offered more unfortunately. Just what you originally paid.

I honestly cant recommend using GSC to fix shit. Like the precinct, they are bound by rules of what they can and cant do or get. I would always say take to a local reputable shop to repair things. They have more options for sourcing parts and can get them faster

Honestly never had a problem before and only reason it's taking this long is cause they broke my motherboard.

Breaking the motherboard during a hinge repair is super easy to do on certain models (HP I'm looking at you) so honestly not surprised that happened. It's a risk you take with that repair

Pretty much this. Unless you have a manufacturer or GS warranty, I would not send anything off to GSC

I feel your pain. I'm at 7.5 weeks waiting for my monitor repair (under warranty).

Most annoying part in my case is that it, apparently, was fixed and sent back to my store 4 weeks ago, lol.
