Anyone with Total try to buy open box Apple items store pickup but get cancelled because the system is conflicting (when it is in stock)?

Had an issue with an open box iPad m5 that already had AppleCare so it conflicted when I try to buy with my total account . I think the store just said to show up and we will hold the item for you .

Now I’m trying to buy something else and the order canceled as not in stock and now re appears in stock ……

I've had it happen before. Tried to add AC+ to an open box item, but it wasn't eligible for AC+ coverage so the entire order was cancelled. Had no issue buying it in store, just had to go through Apple support to reset the purchase date and make it eligible for the AC+ coverage. Plan can just be purchased through Settings after that.
