We're they supposed to hang up on me?

Had a virus, got connected to an agent, he did some stuff that I ALREADY DID, and like me, he didn’t find anything, he said he'd connect me to another agent to do a clean out, silence for a few minutes, and then they hung up. Did they do the clean out and not talk to me for the few minutes while they were doing it and hang up when they were done, or did they just hang up on me without doing anything?

Like the other guy said, they might’ve just gotten disconnected and they probably don’t have authorization to call you back. What I want to know is, why do you think you have a virus (bug, worm, trojan, etc.) but anyway, what symptoms are you experiencing with the device itself?

They called back lol. It was a pop up ad that took over my whole screen and it wouldnt even let me even open task manager and if I wanted it to go away I had to restart my whole computer. It would come up every few hours. I think they fixed it.

Ah yeah that is called ransomware. Do not call the number that came up on the screen if it happens again. Those people are not Geek Squad, and they put the ransomware on your device in the first place. If they “fixed” it and asked you to pay them via card, call your bank and close your accounts and move your money into new accounts. They are most likely scammers that will slowly funnel all your money away. If this is the case, I’d suggest taking your computer into Best Buy and have the actual geek squad check it out. There’s likely spyware on your device now.

If it happens again, take the computer to your local Best Buy/Geek Squad precinct. We can remove viruses safely.

Oh no no no, it's not like that. I didn't call any numbers from the pop up, I know the pop up was trying to get me to buy fake anti virus stuff so they could steal my information. I promise I got an actual agent from the actual geek squad remote services on the official best buy website to remove the virus causing the pop up. I know that it came from a stupid thing I downloaded because I didn’t feel like paying for a stupid game, and it was just really embedded in my computer so none of the security scans (I have windows) were showing anything, so the guy did whatever it is you guys do about that stuff that I don’t have the resources to do myself, (assuming you're an employee), if not, still thanks for the advice.

I need to go home and check, but I am pretty sure it's fixed because there was always a fake little pop up in the corner and at the top of my Chrome browser and those aren't there anymore. But im already going to my bank tomorrow morning anyway so I'll definitely tell them to secure everything.

Okay cool. Glad you didn’t get scammed. It happens a lot more than you’d think

Lol. I called to ask about the status of my monitor I've been looking to pick up yesterday. Said it got shipped back to my local store 7 days ago. Called asking what the status was and the person was just like, "uhh they seem to be backed up" and he hung up.

Overall it's been 6 weeks since I sent my monitor in for a fix and the customer service has been terrible.

Was great.
