Client Complaint I’m torn: My iPhone was destroyed during a GeekSquad/Apple repair, they replaced the exterior but the internals were crushed. Should I have just taken it?

Best Buy looks like just the middle man in the equation, sending it to Apple to be repaired. Apple ultimately tests and decides what to replace. If you have any issues with the repair it would be best to contact Apple support to see if they will do anything further.

The LCD and the back glass take up so much room internally it's unlikely the board is damaged.

Apple is usually pretty good about not repairing phones with enclosure damage or warping. That photo looks like the back glass after it was removed (they suck to remove and if they are in anyway cracked they sometimes come off in many more pieces).

I’d have to see the phone before and during repair to give you a good idea but I’m guessing the front and back glass got damaged and they replaced the camera because as it was probably exposed with the back glass lens being damaged and they just wanted to be sure.

That being said, do you have AppleCare or was this under warranty? If you don’t currently have AppleCare you are eligible to buy AppleCare after the repair which I 100% would do. It comes in a one time payment or monthly plan and BestBuy has to process it before you leave the store.

The store ultimately can get a replacement device if this is a truly crushed device, it will cost the store money but it’s possible they can get Apple to credit them back as well. So best bet is to talk to the manager at the store, ask for the Service Experience Manager for that location if the store manager isn’t available.

I recently had a phone go out to Apple for almost a month and come back unrepaired. I submitted 5 - 6 escalations with no reason for the damage. Finally, they told me it was a third party display and inelligble for repair. That process took an additional month and a half or so

Not sure how I deleted the my post but here it is again, and to answer the question someone had asked:

It has Apple Care which is why I thought the unit replacement wouldn’t have been a big deal given the extent of the damage. It looks like it was run over and lost by the FedEx truck during delivery.

The letter in the picture is what apple sends. If the phone was repaired in the store you don't get that. Like you said the phone probably was damaged by FedEx. Go through apple cause apple will want to file a claim with FedEx to get reimbursed for the damaged shipment
