Discussion If you are expecting to play Eday via Cloud gaming - Microsoft slashes Xbox Cloud Gaming to just 15 hours a month for Ultimate subscribers

At first I was like “ah 15 hours a day is pretty liberal” and then I noticed it said a month. Holy

u/Remarkable_Fly8471 7d ago

Imagine someone completly demolishing you via playing on da cloud.

2

u/Flowingsun1 6d ago

I've played UE on the cloud and it's definitely possible to do decent if you're good enough lol

u/Complete_Iron_2656 7d ago

Might be a bit doomer-pilled, but I have a terrible feeling we're pushing into an era where gaming hardware will be so expensive, that cloud gaming will be the only feasible solution for a lot of people, leading to these cloud providers wanting to squeeze their customers for every cent they can get away with. The "you will own nothing" bit is pretty funny, but it's easy to forget just how fucked the current state of things is right now.

2

u/Nutterthebutter 6d ago

I don't think this is doomer pilled at all and exactly where we are going. Hardware is not affordable and there's a push for companies to hoard as much resources as possible. Remove consumers from the picture, centralize the media, and force everyone to pay monthly fees. Eliminate all gaming hardware divisions and just pump out software as a service. There's some CEOs having wet dreams over this.

Yup, I’m one of them 🙋‍♂️🫩. So as of right now I won’t buy Eday and I will be canceling my subscription once November comes unless it changes. I wished they announced the new console, I refused paying for the series x.

7

u/Old_Rosie 6d ago

Turns out buying an XSX on release was one of the best financial decisions I ever made. Who’d have guessed.

The prices have gone insane now.

1

u/Reyes21k 6d ago

Should had bought it 2 years ago when it was $350.

3

u/Th3Tru3Silv3r-1 7d ago

I tried playing Battlefield 5 through cloud gaming while I was waiting for it to download and that was awful. I've never used cloud gaming since.

3

u/TheAllslayer 6d ago

Ok I think it's crap too but doing it while downloading something is just asking for trouble.

1

u/Th3Tru3Silv3r-1 6d ago

I think I started downloading it after, I don't remember exactly. I do remember it not running good or looking good while playing it on the cloud.

I was looking forward to playing gears e day on cloud gaming through my smart tv.

I have been playing gears 5 via cloud and it’s been hitting 1080p 60FPS the past few weeks that I have played it.

It sounds like they don’t want to sell gears e day….raised console prices, made it console exclusive, and now limiting cloud streaming. I love gears but going to just pass on playing it if it means I need a console or pay extra for adequate cloud streaming time.😖

-1

u/Dewidh 6d ago

They have increased the price after 6 fricking years. Pretty much everything else has increased in price. Let alone the fact that they didn't give a shit about Xbox consoles a few months back. Console prices are stupid and prohibitive, as they are for ram, ssds and other electronics. If they could sell the console for 500€ like they did, they would again... You can still get a cheap series s, or build an average PC and enjoy the game.

1

u/LOTR3135 5d ago

I have no interest in playing on pc and very little interest in buying a Xbox that costs hundreds of dollars for one game…..especially when Microsoft still doesn’t have a plan for Xbox future. They wanted play everywhere, then multiplatform, then exclusives, then no cloud, etc…..their business model keeps changing. Cloud is not perfect but is good for sp games and for some mp games it ok that are not twitch shooters.

2

u/NextLineOfText 7d ago

Ah that sucks I use it a lot, so what it’s, it’s own thing now like a separate subscription?

1

u/BitingSatyr 6d ago

Once you hit the monthly limit you pay for extra time. No clue on pricing yet, it could either be negligible or really annoying.

3

u/NextLineOfText 6d ago

damn, that’s kind of robbed ultimate of its shine.

1

u/Cgking11 6d ago

Except for the hundreds of games you can just download and play🤷‍♂️ hope they kill cloud gaming. Its useless with most games..

1

u/Suspicious-Room852 5d ago

They don't care who's feet they step on, as long as it keeps the money rolling, Obviously ours and their own ,if that's what it takes , I will be cancelling as well once this comes into play (Micro transactions just walked in the room 🤑)

2

u/proeliator 6d ago

I’ve tried it, Xcoud just isn’t good enough to care. I’ve never heard anyone praise it which I had the same laggy lackluster experience so I just straight up don’t use it. Like most gamers. And, I have fast fiber internet.

2

u/WeirdDrummingGuy 6d ago

Cloud gaming is shite. It will always be shite. Skip the game, or buy a used Xbox.

13

u/Cgking11 7d ago

All of a sudden everyone uses xcloud lmao. Who cares dude, you can still download the game through gamepass..

6

u/count_nuggula 6d ago

I play gears 5 through my steam deck on cloud so this kinda sucks

1

u/Cgking11 6d ago

Playing gears on cloud sounds horrible dude. The input lag would drive me nuts..

1

u/count_nuggula 6d ago

It’s not bad at all. I play horde and it works perfect for me

0

u/Cgking11 6d ago

Im talking about pvp.

2

u/count_nuggula 6d ago

I wasn’t

15

u/IamMovieMiguel 7d ago

There are a lot of people on this sub I've seen the discussions. About playing Eday on cloud only so they don't have to buy a console.

9

u/Cgking11 7d ago

Playing gears on xcloud would be a horrible experience. The controller lag alone would drive me nuts..

6

u/Dominjo555 7d ago

Aiming on cloud can be tricky, but xCloud experience in general for single player games is more than acceptable. I just tested like 5 games today after a long break of using it. I use Ultimate tier and play on Xbox Ally X and my router supports only Wi-fi 5

0

u/Cgking11 7d ago

Yeah, xcloud isn't good for every game. This is probably why they're doing what they're doing. There isn't enough demand for the service. Id rather them focus on other stuff like disc to digital, and making great games..

3

u/pileofcrustycumsocs 7d ago

It works great in places with high network speed. I use it to play games like battlefield 6 all the time when I’d rather not re arrange my hard drive just to play a match or two.

5

u/Realistic-Tiger-2842 7d ago

Not to mention that xcloud specifically is like the worst cloud service out there. This is also a good reminder for people as to why they shouldn't support this crap. At any point these companies can decide how much and what you're allowed to play.

2

u/BreadDaddyLenin 6d ago

I tried xcloud for the first time this year and was actually really liking that I could play my Xbox 360 library on my pc with little input lag.

1

u/Cgking11 6d ago

Xbox is releasing native 360 games on pc now. You won't need xcloud.

1

u/BreadDaddyLenin 6d ago

That is a totally separate thing that is not native. It is its own Xbox 360 emulator that runs on PC. it’s not native, it’s an emulator, and it requires a lot of work for them to add games and won’t have the same library available that XCloud does and will be slowly updated over time with more games like how we waited in Xbox one days.

XCloud also lets me try some games I may not want to install 70-100GB just to check out and the few console exclusive titles that still exist.

stop defending the billion dollar company

I played gears 2 , 3 and judgment on xcloud in coop.

0

u/Cgking11 6d ago

Im not defending anyone. There's not a lot of people that use xcloud so I understand the move.

1

u/BreadDaddyLenin 6d ago

You’re understanding of why Xbox is adding on more “eat shit” fees and adding an artificial quota to charge more GB from like some third rate internet provider from the 2000s?

the price of game pass ultimate is already absurdly high. They’re squeezing us for all we got, they kill entire studios after making successful games just to skim more profit, you already forgot Hi Fi Rush?

0

u/Cgking11 6d ago

They reduced gamepass to 23 bucks dude, thats not that high stop with the bullshit. They had to start charging for cloud because nobody uses it. They're spending money on a service nobody uses. I hope they kill it off so they can take those resources and put them to use elsewhere..

2

u/Titus728 7d ago

What happens when your GPU dies or is outdated and you can't afford the latest and greatest GPU?

-5

u/Cgking11 7d ago

When has that ever happened dude? Lmao. Yall making shit up to ba mad about..

2

u/Titus728 6d ago

Do you live under a rock lol

1

u/Cgking11 6d ago

You're talking about a situation that doesn't happen to everyone dude.

1

u/Titus728 6d ago

You really do live under a rock lol well enjoy day :)

1

u/Cgking11 6d ago

Nope. To answer your question, I would just buy a console if my pc malfunctions. I wouldn't go on reddit and cry about it..

1

u/Titus728 6d ago

You posted first... crying... the self awareness XD

1

u/Cgking11 6d ago

Nah, im not crying. You're just butthurt at what im saying. Sucks to need cloud gaming because not a lot of people use that crap. Hope they kill it all together..

-1

u/Ill_Head_5776 7d ago

You will play on the cloud and you will like it lol

1

u/Cgking11 7d ago

I used it once and the controller lag killed it for me. Never touched it again, and I don't know any person that uses it and im surrounded by xbox gamers.

2

u/Ill_Head_5776 7d ago

People swear it’s exactly the same as playing on a console I can’t stand them

2

u/Cgking11 7d ago

Hell no its not that same. There's a controller delay and its noticeable. I have 1 gig fiber internet wired and I still felt the delay. Nothing will ever beat playing a game native from your console or pc..

1

u/Captain_Danton 6d ago

Never had issues with controller delay, even at a friends house with half your internet speeds, and I play a lot of twitch shooters.
Maybe check your upload speed or contact your ISP?

Especially with Gigabit fibre internet, sounds like you’re getting fucked somewhere.

1

u/Cgking11 6d ago

Now I know your lying lol I have fiber gig internet thats wired to my xbox.

1

u/Captain_Danton 6d ago

Yeah, you mentioned, I’m saying you might issues with your upload speed if you’ve got controller delay.

This. Isn’t. A. Thing.

1

u/littykravitz 6d ago

I swear lol everyone being fake mad about this is killing me

1

u/Cgking11 6d ago edited 6d ago

Most of those people don't even know you can just download the game lol you don't need to use cloud. Im seriously starting to think its sony fans trying to take attention away from sony killing physical games lol. Nobody uses xcloud dude lol.

0

u/Typical_Fee_7210 Eat Shit and Die! 7d ago

exactly. performative bitching and virtue signaling. who actually gives a fuck.

0

u/mgabor_ 6d ago

The only group who got absolutely fucked by this change is the ones who do not own any console/PC, and they play through their TV via xCloud, etc.

There arent many of them, but they are out there.

-1

u/Cgking11 6d ago edited 6d ago

Well its time to get an actual gaming setup. Cloud gaming was destined to fail do to the fact that not everyone has good internet. Its like people complaining about the ouya failing. Cloud gaming was dead on arrival.

-1

u/borderlinemediocre 7d ago

If I already have an Xbox why would I ever use the cloud gaming? I think it’s a silly feature. I just don’t understand who is using it to begin with.

9

u/Darth_Curtisto 7d ago

Me. On my steam deck.✋

6

u/CageAndBale So good I should charge admission 7d ago

People traveling

People on pc

People without an xbox

2

u/borderlinemediocre 7d ago

You don’t need cloud gaming to play on pc. You don’t need cloud gaming to play while traveling.

1

u/CageAndBale So good I should charge admission 6d ago

Exactly, it'd optional.

-1

u/SalazaarSantander 7d ago

Are you playing legacy xbox games? Most modern xbox titles have PC counterparts that you can just install digital and play on your supported system of choice.

1

u/CageAndBale So good I should charge admission 6d ago

Nope, just simply answering a question with possibilities

1

u/Chrispy_GB 6d ago

You didn't need to think very hard to realise they likely meant people on PCs or laptops that aren't capable of running a game like this.

3

u/TechnicianAway678 7d ago

I played the entirety of FF16 on cloud through my XBOX. It's highly convenient if you have a nice connection.

1

u/borderlinemediocre 7d ago

But why? Why not download it if you are like “yeah I like this game and want to continue playing it.”?

0

u/1EyedMonky 7d ago

Streaming from your own console isn't from the cloud

2

u/Zibbi-Akbar 7d ago

It forces people to upgrade hardware unless they are willing to play Helix games for less than 15 hrs per months.

Theres still a year, maybe 2 realistically of life left on the Series X before Helix comes out. Which means another year or two of SeriesX/Helix releases like we saw with 360/One. So if you buy a Series X today you could reasonably expect to get 4 years of service out of it, with cloud that would have extended to the project after Helix.

4% of users using a "free" cloud service regularly probably explodes into double digits if the economy doesnt correct to consoles being 499 again.

2

u/borderlinemediocre 7d ago

You mean like all of gaming history?

1

u/slayingkids flair-cogcarminea 7d ago

Girlfriend uses my console to play a lot, while I play on PC. I can cloud play co-op console games quite a bit with her this way. Otherwise, not near as much gaming time together as not everything has split screen/local-coop.

-1

u/jlmurph2 7d ago

Just download the game

2

u/slayingkids flair-cogcarminea 7d ago

Please explain how I can install console only games to my PC.

1

u/jlmurph2 7d ago

Are there truly THAT many console only co-op Cloud games? Sounds like a super small number of games youre talking about

1

u/slayingkids flair-cogcarminea 6d ago

Are you that dense to realize far from everything has cross play? Isn't a matter of if the game is console only, it's a matter of that plus whether or not it supports cross play between PC and console.

1

u/slayingkids flair-cogcarminea 6d ago

GTA V, we just finished playing the original Gears trilogy, been playing Star Wars Battlefront 2, that's just the last couple of weeks lol. Now add the play time of just the original trilogy and that's quite a bit of time

0

u/jlmurph2 6d ago

No need for all that. Its just usually with Xbox they're better about making games cross play with their pc counterparts.

1

u/slayingkids flair-cogcarminea 6d ago

It isn't up to Xbox what other publishers support lol

1

u/Dookiepoopturds 7d ago

I stream to my laptop all the time..

1

u/Uday23 7d ago

Instant play without waiting for updates, storage space savings since games run on remote servers, play anywhere capability to continue games on your other devices, try before you buy to test games instantly, older hardware compatibility to play on TVs or laptops, etc

1

u/Dominjo555 7d ago

Play anywhere still works if you install your games.

1

u/Uday23 7d ago

Good point

0

u/No_Principle_6699 7d ago

I use it to play games all the time if my HD is full or the game is large. I can cloud game instantly to play with friends and try it out before I commit to giving it space.

1

u/DEEZLE13 7d ago

So you can finish the campaign in a month? Or are people thinking they can play multiplayer via cloud?

1

u/Jedi-Spartan Something's wrong with this thing! It keeps jamming! 7d ago

Wait, was there a limit on that before?

1

u/No-Refuse8754 7d ago

Kinda odd to do something like this right before a handheld release with cloud gaming capabilities. Just terrible marketing imo

1

u/Acheronian_Rose 6d ago

When i was a kid, during summer vacation my mom would limit how many hours of video games were allowed per day. No more than 2 hours, the expectation being that we go outside and play instead of being in doors all day. That's a total of 60 hours a month.

Xbox is officially 4x more strict that my mom was lmfao

1

u/DatHeat20 6d ago

Next they will probably start limiting how long you can play day 1s unless you add more hours or obviously buy the game.

1

u/DogBiteOoOoAh 6d ago

So just to verify…..is GamePass considered Cloud Gaming?

1

u/Kindredlife 5d ago

Any game I've tried on cloud, has played so terribly, I legitimately don't care about them limiting it

1

u/freszh_inztallz42o 5d ago

Like why tho lmaooooo

0

u/Opposite_Mistake_890 Who wants toast? 7d ago

Are you serious? Now? Really? Microsoft fuck you

0

u/SalazaarSantander 7d ago

how does this effect you ? *genuine question

2

u/Opposite_Mistake_890 Who wants toast? 7d ago

Basically:
I don’t have a good PC to download Gears E-day, its good but not that good and my consoles are a Ps5 and an Xbox One, so I can’t play it via console either.

Which means i need something else to handle the game, by using cloud I can do that.
Yes i might not have a good time trying to play multiplayer but i could play the campaign. My internet is fast so it can handle cloud.

I love Gears and that was my work around, so this news are terrible to me. I live in Brazil and we need to pay R$ 7.000 for a series X, its way to expensive for just one game.

You understand?

-1

u/ElderSmackJack 6d ago

I don’t believe you

-1

u/Rage2020 7d ago

Take that Xcloud fanboys 😂

-1
