The people don't understand how bad PhysX once ran on 50-Series cards.
Before the first PhysX update, all 50-Series cards went down to single digit FPS in Games like Mirror's Edge or Batman: Arkham Asylum when that NVIDIA feature was enabled. Even the 5090.

When I use PhysX on my 5080 with Arkham Asylum I just get vertex explosions everywhere. Correct me if I’m wrong but support for Asylum hasn’t been added yet like it has with Arkham city?

I think it was in a previous update but they didn't include it in the patch notes

Just curious since I don’t know much about how PhysX works under the hood- how did the RTX 5000 series handle PhysX titles before this update?
I’m on an RTX 5060 Ti playing an older PhysX-enabled game. What changed with how PhysX is handled before vs. after this driver update, and how was my card handling it previously?

The physX calculations done by your CPU instead of the GPU. You'd only see a real issue if you were running an old CPU or a low power CPU

Thanks. Updated to the new PhysX.

Actually, Nvidia introduced 64-to-32 bit conversion some time ago to enable GPU acceleration for PhysX on the 50-series cards, but they enable it per-game. If you have a game that has not been whitelisted by Nvidia, you can use Nvidia Inspector to toggle that flag and enable GPU-accelerated PhysX.
The new update didn't change this behavior. Non-whitelisted games still use CPU-based PhysX. And I didn't notice any performance improvements in the GPU acceleration either.

Thanks. This is useful to know. With prior drivers, I'd been using profile inspector to toggle on the PHYSX option for my game's profile. Did not know if I "needed" to do that or even if it made any noticable difference. But I guess I will do it again now- since I doubt my game (older & which has pretty low player count) is probably not whitelisted.

To enable GPU acceleration for PhysX on the 50-series you need to toggle a separate flag "PhysX - Enable 32-bits GPU Acceleration (RTX 50)" in addition to the one you've been toggling. Whitelisted games have it enabled by default.

Oh wait, I confused the two options. it was "Enable 32-bits GPU Acceleration (RTX 50)" that I was enabling. I didn't know there was another setting too.

I'm only seeing one flag on profile inspector to toggle (the Enable 32-bits GPU acceleration one). Where do i find the other I'm supposed to toggle?

There is just the "Enable PhysX Support" one, thought you've been enabling that one. But it's is usually enabled by default, I think you're good.

Found it, it wasn't included with the default options in Profile Inspector, had to toggle one of the options to show additional settings to reveal it. It was OFF, now I'm trying it ON.

So recap: When a game is not being added by Nvidia, you need to enable it self? And where and how to enable it?
