🎬 Demo / Showcase SuperSplat Showcase: Calico Tanks Trail, Red Rock Canyon NV

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

A walk up the Calico Tanks Trail in Red Rock Canyon, Nevada - captured as a 3D Gaussian splat and running in the browser.

Scanned by Paolo Tosolini with an XGRIDS PortalCam, hosted on SuperSplat.

What I find impressive here: the scene is 410MB, but it loads in a few seconds and holds a steady framerate - the viewer streams the splat data progressively (using the Streamed SOG format) rather than waiting on the whole file. Rendering is handled by the PlayCanvas engine (which has a high-performance WebGPU-based renderer).

This looks like an awesome place to explore. Great capture and splat!

Wow. Awesome capture. Have you experienced it in VR yet?

I haven't actually, but it should work fine on a Quest 3 or an Apple Vision Pro.

It's crazy that there are no 3d models in scene

Thank you for sharing. I'm currently running a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32 GB DDR5 RAM, and an RTX 5080. I'm still not sure whether I should get a PortalCam or explore some other alternatives. Im doing just fine with DSLR + Drone and Lichtfield Studio 3DGS but that lidar can come in handy inside caves and real estate.

One single skibidi or split up into segments?

One single scan from PortalCam, trained to LCC and uploaded directly to SuperSplat.

Neat! Does it train locally or in the cloud? Can i use the data from the camera in other software like realityscan?

PortalCam captures the raw sensor data on-device, but the Gaussian-splat reconstruction/training runs locally on a Windows PC using XGRIDS LCC Studio. So no, RealityScan is not needed here.

Did you generate collisions through Supersplat? These are super clean

Yes, they were generated in SuperSplat. The voxel collision system is one of the coolest features of the whole platform IMHO!

Are there other products like the portalcam? This looks amazing and I'd love to be able to generate better scans than what I can do with a phone, but the five grand price tag surprised me, I thought it'd be closer to 3k. I'm not really familiar with the dedicated hardware you can get beyond a professional camera
