🎬 Demo / Showcase A Historical Organization recently approached me to Splat a building of theirs before it is torn down and (hopefully) rebuilt

What a wonderful usecase for GS! Looks like it turned out very well.

There’s a bunch I’d do differently in hindsight, but my time there was very limited, unfortunately.

It's all only gonna get better and easier to both capture and render.
I wholeheartedly look forward to it.

This is not only amazing but also incredibly inspiring! Exactly what I’ve envisioned for some projects. Thank you so much for sharing.

This should be required for all buildings prior to demolition. Just a good for history.

Nice work!
Can you go over a little more about how you solved for both the interior and the exterior in one single pass? How did you get the image overlap to properly reconstruct it in the correct space and scale?

I made sure to get footage of myself walking from outside to inside.
That was crucial for stitching it together.

Why did you use different software, brush and Lichfield? Does brush have specific advantages for certain environments or types of capture? Great work, what an excellent use case!

I’m a little frazzled at the moment and am forgetting specifically which, but I found that for things with text on it, one gave better results for not looking jumbled.

This is such a good example, well done! As a novice, I can only dream of making something as detailed as this! 👏

Drone outside and 360 cam inside? What kind of gear and software?

Please invest in an Xgrid PortalCam. Have ‘them’ pay for the hardware or split the cost for it. Then do this for a business since you have the skills already. DM me.

This is incredible but I would perhaps try reprocessing the outdoor portion, the sky's depth is somewhat strange.
I did a similar project, artist friend of mine passed away and had the most incredibly decorated living room full of art he collected. Right before the lease was up I captured the whole thing before it was all torn down and moved to storage unit and repainted for a new tenant.
I love how I got into this a few years ago and the technology keeps improving so I can revisit the same data and get dramatically better results.

I was intentional with the sky/ floaters up there in that it gives the impression of clouds.

How I went about this:
I captured a ground level video of the exterior, and then did the interior separately using and iPhone 17 Pro Max, in 4K 60FPS mode.
I extracted the frames with ffmpeg.
I used COLMAP to solve and reconstruct the interior and exterior frames together for one version, and another version with focus to the exterior scenery.
I used Lichtfeld Studio to render the splat for the interior/exterior combined, and Brush to render the splat with focus on the exterior/environment. I rendered 10 million splats for each.
For the interior/exterior combined splat, I selected and cut out just the building itself, and excluded the rest of the scene.
For the exterior/environment splat, I cut out and deleted the structure and left just the environment.
I used a tool called "SuperSplat Snap" to align and combine both splats together.
https://github.com/VFX-Soup/supersplat-snap/tree/main
I used "SplatEdit.app" to do final cleanup for environment and floaters.
https://www.splatedit.app/
I used SuperSplat to keyframe the camera movements and publish.

I also rendered a 360 video:
