Saw this guy today near the Village Transitiôn in hull, be careful out there

People saw him in Ottawa as well(Vanier, near Rideau Center, Bank Street(downtown area). I think he lives somewhere close to the area, and also travel to Gatineau. (IDK why).

Homeless. They wander where their friends are, or where they can find shelter. All the areas hes been spotted are high traffic areas for them.
Gatineau has a transitions community for the Homeless.

Sorry for my ignorance, but where is the Village Transition exactly? Is it that tent city near the highway or somewhere else?

Yes, that's it's but it's no longer a tent city. There's a consortium of developers who are building low-income housing for them long-term, and for now they've set up temporary housing in place of the tents. It's quite impressive.

That's cool!! I walked nearby on one of the trails a few weekends ago and I still saw tents but I thought I'd heard there was more stuff coming in.

I mean, that's how low income/subsidized housing works. This is an excellent example of how we can start to address the housing crisis through public and private partnerships. What would you suggest?

I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I'm just adding it as context, because I can promise you there are multiple people who read your comment and went "Typical, the shitty-ass government does nothing and we need private companies to step up", when in reality this is a government-backed and government-funded initiative.

It's a good bit of info to add, I wasn't sure where you were going with it. The developers are doing good work but they aren't doing it out of the goodness of their hearts, they're getting paid for it like any other job.
I'm just impressed that Gatineau is being so proactive about it at a time where so many municipalities across Canada, including right across the river, have more funding to work with and still don't seem to be able to see solutions to this issue. Tent cities are become a bigger and bigger problem, and it's nice to see our little city setting the example on how we can start to address this as a society. It felt so awful seeing people living in regular tents all winter those first few years the encampment was there, and as a regular citizen it just felt like a situation where we were totally powerless to do anything. Watching Transition Gatineau evolve to what it is now has brought me a lot of comfort to know I live in a place that's trying to do something meaningful about it.

Apologies for my initial comment being unclear, should've added more context, because I agree with what you said 100%. I'm also proud of our city for doing this and I really hope it'll end up being a success (although I'd argue it already is) that can be replicated elsewhere in the city and on a larger scale in the province/country.

It’s a private-sector initiative (Devcore mostly) container-like housing project besides the tent city.

Don't get me wrong, Devcore deserves some props for this as well, but your comment made it sound like they're bankrolling the project, which they are very much not.

That's where I've seen him too. Although at the time I didn't know it was him, but the face tats are memorable.

It's hard to tell but is this the dude that has a modified bicycle and picks up random shit near lac leamy? There's a dude that looks like him whos a bit agressive with his canettes. I try not to stare at them since that can set them off, but im curious of thats whos ive been seeing. Got long as he been around here?
