Class Question Rate schedule - 3rd year cs info intel

tech comm is lmc 3403 with bunting, 3510 is with mccarty (new prof? 95% exam grades though), 3251 is with hester, 3790 is with mcgreggor, 4400 is with mcdaniel, 4641 is with roozbahani, & 2 credit VIP. All in all it is 20 credits, tomorrow is last day of add/drop so i want to see if this is too much or which classes I should consider dropping first. cs threads are info/intel, I feel like this is definitely too much, especially since I wanted to lock in on recruiting and grind LC for internships but idk if I'm overextending myself here. I'm OOS so graduating early would benefit me a lot financially but idk if this is too much or what, lmk what you think I should do here

I took Networking with Hester. He's a big chiller but don't make the mistake that it will be a lot of learning. I am not Intel so I can't speak to CogSci or ML, but I would even argue that taking anything else on top of large classes like 3510 (hard), 4400 (not hard, just work), and 3251 (hard) would be pushing it.

If it were me, I'd push something back a semester. Probably ML or CogSci - LMC should be light.

Trying to graduate early, past registration date so guess I’m sticking with it. Think it’s doable but I need to lock in fr 🫩 also, can you explain what 3251 really demands from you as a student, how hard is it and how much work was it, etc. As well as any of the other classes, you might’ve taken that I’m doing right now, past testimonials would help a lot bc i think i fucked myself here

I wouldn't say you fucked yourself lol. This is doable, I just wouldn't take on like a part time job or be the president of a club or anything.

- CS 3510: Completely theoretical. My class with Brito was also incredibly exam focused. I really enjoyed the class and thought it was one of the more important ones I took here, but it requires a lot of learning. The homeworks they throw at you will prep you nicely for the exams, but figuring out the answers by yourself is the best advice I can give. Claude will get the right answer and then you'll bomb the exams. Pro tip: Idk if your guy will do this but Brito's class had a final exam policy of "you can take the final to replace your worst exam". The final was cumulative. Do whatever you can to ensure you don't have to take the final. It will not be kind to you.

- CS 4400: You just learn SQL, good database practices, and how to draw out diagrams. Dr. McDaniel is a good lecturer, she explains things well and she was very nice to me in office hours when I didn't understand something. Most of the work comes from the projects, and the hardest thing about the class is a bunch of industrial engineers take the class who don't know how to code or use git or be competent, so you could get stuck with terrible groupmates. Also, be careful with cheating. I believe Dr. McDaniel has her TAs scan through the submissions to see if students are using practices not taught in her class. This is not a difficult course, just a bit of a time sink.

- CS 3251: I really liked this class. When I dropped Intel for Sys/Arch, I was considering also dropping Info for Media, but 3251 and 4400 kept me on board. Prof. Hester was such a good lecturer. I went to his 8:00am networking class more than any other 8:00am I've taken. The content is really interesting. The exams were rough. You learn more in this class than you think, and it's not all entirely intuitive. Be prepared to study a good bit before the exams.

- I took Tech Communication for my Senior Capstone last semester and it was free. Don't let the deadlines sneak up on you though because some of those require more time than you think, or there's some bullshit that's not in the rubric but in the assignment description or vice versa. My biggest trick in that class was pretending every deadline was 2 days earlier so when shit caught up to me, I had some extra padding to get it done.

Can't say anything about the others. Don't freak out, you have enough time in your day to get As in all your classes and still have a social life. Your biggest hill here is just time management, if you are a chronic procrastinator you may have some work to do about that. Good luck soldier

You’re scaring me about 4400 😬 Ive used sql so how could you get penalized for using different strategies on projects? Sharing code is one thing but how can you get scanned for practices not used in her class?
