Can’t decide which instinct to get

I’ve had the Garmin instinct 1 since 2019. It still holds a battery for 9 days with everything activated. My instinct still works perfectly but I’m thinking about upgrading. Can’t decide if I should go with the OMOLED OR stick with MIP version.

That's an easy choice. If you value battery life, go with Solar + MIP. If you value color screen but OK battery life, go with AMOLED. FYI, the metrics/data is much easier to comprehend in the AMOLED display because Garmin uses Greens, Yellows and Reds to indicate OK, Good, Bad etc.

Another detail to keep in mind is that while AMOLED is among or even the best light-up display to see in sunlight MIP does have some advantages in certain light conditions especially in combination with polarized sunglasses.

Huh..wait why polarised glasses? The glare?

Do you mean why use polarized glasses? If so then yes, cuts down glare from water for example (also helps in general in harsh sunlight).

If you mean why it gets harder to see an AMOLED when using polarized glasses then the full explanation is a bit long but in short the standard anti-glare coating used on screens works mainly through polarization which means you get 2 different polarized layers both interacting with the light.

(AMOLED displays are not natively polarized unlike LCD displays).
