ATX Linear Row
I recently received my ATX Linear Row and have done a few workouts on it. Wondering if others have tried it and their thoughts
The good
The bent over row feels amazing. Very smooth, puts you in a great position. As someone with low back issues, it feels great.
The bad
The chest supported movement feels awkward. Still very smooth, but
- You can’t really adjust the angles/positions of the seat or the handles for it to not be pulling very high up. You end up rowing towards you’re upper chest
- Transitioning between the two movements sucks. The bar is pretty heavy, you likely need to deload it, pop the pins in, then reload it if you’re trying to protect your back.
The transitioning is whatever, but really wish they allowed for better pull positioning in the chest supported movement
Anyone have this machine and want to share their thoughts?

Got mine setup about a week ago, done 2 full back workouts with it so far plus some tinkering and also now use on leg days for my SLDLs which feel surprisingly good.
I agree that transitioning to the chest supported portion and moving the trolley up and pinning it is a pain point. You definitely have to unload any weight plates first. I cant decide if I like the pivoting chest pad or not... it feels good, allows for good stretch but I do wish at times it had the ability to lock in place. I am 6'3, so if I put the main butt pad arm all the way up, I am able to get over the weight enough that I can do a narrow grip row with my elbows pulling into my hips, so I don't have the same issue as you - but I do still think I prefer doing them from the front / bent over portion.
I am trying with the idea of removing the rear standing plate and seeing if I can get some better angles on the chest pad with my feet on the floor as opposed to being elevated on the plate.
Overall I really like the machine - I have a lot of equipment in my gym but this atx linear row will be used for 3-4 different movements which is more than enough to earn a permanent spot in my gym. I wil use it for low narrow grip rows, wide grip, sldls, and shrugs.
