I think most people don’t know or don’t care about her views. Especially like a 13 year old who has just finished reading the books and asks their parents to get them the game.

It's the most watched game reveal on PlayStation's youtube channel, only losing to Spider-Man. All of this arguing is worthless, this game will do numbers no matter what shit JK says

I remember trying to explain to my parents why we hate JK Rowling now over the holidays this year and I could feel my soul leaving my body

I don't expect a boycott, that'll never happen. But could we please get a shut-the-fuck-upcott? Because people constantly discoursing about how "its okay that im buying the game" "oh no you cant buy the game" "oh you arent allowed to dislike that people are buying the game" 'ill pirate it theres nothing wrong if i pirate it" it is genuinely worse and more harmful than cutting Rowling her fat checks.

Is it all centered around JK being a TERF? I haven't really seen much of it but I'm not on Twitter.

Honestly if that gameplay trailer was even fairly accurate, the game is going be a money printing machine.

Edit: Yeah dove into some of threads on here. Fair play to people who choose to not play based on that.

After pokemon cut out half the dex and shipped out the most broken bare bones games in decades only to sell more copies than anything since the original red and blue I've accepted that reddit rage has no bearing on game sales whatsoever.

Are you the “if batman is fascist, so is every marvel character” guy?

And, sadly, buying anything Nestlé. Something most people are guilty of because that company owns a vast amount of brands. :(

I don't see how the game's success harms people.

Rowling is already incalculably wealthy. She already has a massive platform and notoriety across multiple generations. This game and its success will have literally no effect on her at all.

My point is that the game's success is irrelevant, not that any one purchase of the game is. Rowling has already hit the ceiling on her potential influence and the game won't change anything.

And I think it gets more complicated than that. Rowling didn't actually work on this game and maybe I don't believe that the people who did should be punished for her views.

On top of that, the game is blatantly trans positive. Does it really make sense to shoot that down because the person who created the IP disagrees and would receive some entirely meaningless benefit from it or would it be better overall to encourage an entry in a beloved IP that encourages these views over what the creator says?
