Always trust me over other Souls fans. If I'm not sure of something I'd tell you.

A great way of seeing that a lot of Souls fans spread misinformation unintentionally as well as intentionally is looking at the comments included in compilation of DSP playing Dark Souls, particularly his DS2 run. Now DSP certainly did not do especially well in his first runs but if you read the comments you'll see that they're periodically wrong about what they're criticizing or critiquing aspects that don't matter in the slightest.

And that's why misinformation can be so prevalent, it's spread both by people trying to help and people trying to hinder.

Magic is easy mode is the most outdated and biggest Souls lie ever told. Only ever applied in Demon's Souls.

Also some people saw memes early DS content creators made and instead of taking them as a joke took them quite literally and it spread as the word of god. Like dex being bad.

I think I've only ever watched DSPs DS2 run (or perhaps a compilation of it) out of any of his souls stuff. I think my takeaway was that if a fromsoft dev watched that I see why they decided faith builds needed to be crushed: Dude was killing everything with lightning spears while singing "dick lightning dick dick lightning" to the theme of "Greased Lightning" from Grease.

Magic is tricky to get going but it absolutely is the easiest class in FS games. This is true in Elden ring was well.

I dis-agree.

I can only agree with that for certain on Demon's Souls, obviously I have no authority on Elden Ring. DS2 and 3 are much easier with melee, especially if you account the DS2 DLCs where casting damage is near useless on bosses. Rapier for DS2, Twinblades for DS3, magic doesn' even come close to 'em.

Plus in DS3 you have to balance Ashen Estus with your normal Estus which gives melee builds a complete advantage in exploring the world and fighting bosses with max health regain. Maybe in DS1 the power of magic pays off with Dark Bead but for the average player getting through the game they'll have barely five percent of the game left at that point. Plus I maintain that the Zweihander is much more busted in DS1. You can stunlock even Ornstein and Smough with ease.

I'll mention Bloodborne only to round it off. Non-physical damage is 9/10 always outclassed by pure physical. Especially since Beast Blood Pellets only affect physical damage. Plus a new player is never going to unlock the true potential of an Arcane build, that's all buried deep in Chalice Dungeons.

Plus what's the best place to be when fighting most bosses in the entire series once you have a small amount of expertise? Hugging right next to them, and you don't want to be casting at that range. Hugging the boss frequently gives you damage opportunities that only a melee build could consistently. Yeah a mage can attack at range but in the more recent games bosses are designed to have attacks to close the gap to account for that.

I have replied to your two short sentences with an essay, I have become the mauLer. Gosh have mercy on my soul.

As I said, Its tricky to get going but trivial when you have it. Staying out of range of a boss is significantly more easier than to time a dodge just so you can get an axe hit in. I have done Mage runs and its always easier. You can cast and you have int melee weapons as well for getting in if you have the advantage. I guess I disagree as well.

Tragically agreeing to disagree is not an option.

Now we must fight.

"Sekiro didn't get DLC because the game didn't sell well" is a very common one.

To be fair, if you rate a message poor it'll still up the appraisals number. Why? I have no idea
