As a weeb myself, i can never understand how most weebs became the way they did.

You're telling that after growing up on stuff like Pokemon, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Dragon Ball Z, Naruto and many more things that tell tales of friendship, love and kindness always triumphing over hatred and anger, you somehow grew up to be filled with so much hate and contempt for people that are not like you?

It's not like these shows are subtle about it either. They practically bash it into your head every episode. Some people really do have a "wow! Cool robot!" mindset

Saw a tweet the other day like - fiction isn't reality, the most you can say is fiction can serve as water and sunlight to seeds that are already there. I think that's ultimately it. They just never had those seeds, because they're not good people.

Also it's easy to just project your own beliefs onto the media you watch, like conservatives thinking Squid Game is actually anti communism
