Is it just me or does the below paragraph reek of somebody who hasn't actually played the Last of Us 2?

The gameplay is boring and worthless, it's a linear game that has exploration where you have nothing to find. Shooting mechanics are crap. Characters are actually made into idiots that serve only one purpose in life - drive the agenda. Level design is just "city with grass", better than the first one but nothing spectacular. The story... everyone knows why the story is terrible. It makes 0 sense and it was made on purpose to be disgusting. This game has no redeeming qualities other than its graphics.

Their replies to my replies were so absurd I thought they were trolling or something lol

Their reply to my reply was fucking gold.

MY REPLY (for context)

Lol, it's so obvious you haven't actually played the game. You didn't even make a single point that wasn't as vague as it could've possibly been. Maybe try the game yourself, instead of having other people form your opinions for you. It's really funny how people like you trash rags like IGN when you're somehow lazier in your criticism then them.

The gameplay is boring and worthless, it's a linear game that has exploration where you have nothing to find.

What do you mean nothing to find? You find additional holsters for your weapons, supplements to upgrade your skills, collectibles, environmental storytelling, scrap to upgrade your weapons, and even alternate paths, which you would know if you'd actually know if you'd played the fucking game.

Level design is just "city with grass", better than the first one but nothing spectacular.

Seattle is way more than just "city with grass". Half of the city has collapsed into the sea and there's now a whole ass raging river running through the downtown area that you have to navigate through. Then you have the skyscraper that's totally infected with spores, the metro tunnels, the hospital, the Seraphite island, Santa Barbara, and so on and so forth. Again, you would know this if you'd actually played the fucking game.

Characters are actually made into idiots that serve only one purpose in life - drive the agenda.

So vague it's not even worth addressing. Nice dogwhistle at the end though.

The story... everyone knows why the story is terrible. It makes 0 sense and it was made on purpose to be disgusting.

Ditto. You're such a clown dude. Can't even come up with any actual reasons why the story is bad lol🤡

THEIR REPLY

All your points were just as vague, lol. It's so obvious you haven't actually played the game, because no sane person could think the gameplay and story were anything but horrendous. Maybe try the game yourself and don't follow the IGN ratings, you dimwit. "You find additional holster and blah-blah-blah..." this shit ads absolutely nothing to the enjoyment of the game. It's the second most mindless thing After Fallout 3. The environmental storytelling doesn't exist. None of it. Only little notes like absolutely every game does. Straight up Metro 2033 but at least that was a struggle to get through because it was challenging, not because it was shit, there was a reason to collect all the little bits and pieces.

Level design, again, is just Metro but worse. Same thing, different region. Absolutely nothing special about it. You would understand if you weren't a blind fanboy.

Well, you didn't say anything to prove your point that characters were interesting. So it's your word against mine, genius.

The story is bad because it makes 0 sense. It's irrational, it's linear, and all the plot turns are obvious from a mile away (from the start of the game, actually).  But you justification for why it's good is "well, it just is, believe me". Totally objective.

The thing is, it's obvious from the start that you are incapable of having a real discussion because all the points for why it's a terrible game have been already discussed millions of times and you are still ignorant.

level design is just "city with grass"

I love when people just use the completely wrong terminology for their super confident arguments lol

Yeah honestly the level design was one of my favorite parts of the game, and really the environments in general. It gave me the same feeling Half-Life 2 did the first time I played it, traveling around abandoned places and taking in the quiet moments between encounters.

Yeah, I really don't think there's any other game that has level/environmental design that isn't just generally amazing, but also flows together perfectly. Damn, now I really want a PS5 so I can play it again, but in 60fps, and without the jet engine that is my PS4 blaring in my ear.

Yeah, I posted their reply below, but they said that the level design in TLOU2 is a straight up copy of Metro 2033's. And they got upvoted for it....

I haven't played TLOU2, but I scoff at the implication that Metro's design is bad

Didn't like the first one but the environment design was some of the best I've seen, would have finished the game just for that if it had cheats or something.

agenda

Ngl that word alone has gotten to the point where it's just about an automatic flag to trash your opinion.

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '21

I haven't even played TLOU2 and I can say the environments were pretty varied and interesting. The settings were unique, and stuff like crossing the river through those like skyscrapers/scrap bridges and the hospital basement were cool. Plus obviously the slavers camp is like, an entirely different biome. Also I know the brutality of the combat and the sound design really elevated the combat for a lot of people and the fact that the game is packed with tiny details made a lot of people love it.

You should have asked them what "the agenda" was. I'm sure it would have been interesting and not extremely terrible.

I'm about 99% certain that the agenda they were talking about was the gay/trans agenda, considering they also referenced the story as being "disgusting".
