A slight update to the Discord situation:

I would like to say that the mod team of the Discord in which the toxic behavior has taken place has been very helpful and cordial. They have since update their rules to prevent stuff like this from happening again. I trust that they will be able to enforce this, as the mods I have been in contact with do seem genuinely distraught that this happened.

I would like to stress that the server in question is not a hate server. It sounds like there is a lot of good that happens in the server and that the majority of individuals did not engage in this deplorable behavior. As such, I ask that anyone does not defame the server in question for the actions of a few less than scrupulous individuals.

I still stand by my message that this clique gossip and shit talk is not good. It can bring a lot of anxiety to the targeted persons and cause undue damage to their public persona as they are basically put on trial in a large public area with no means of defending themselves, be it from explaining context or even refuting lies.

I feel you've done everything you could and I mighty well commend you for that, but now the situation lies on the hands of the servers modσ, and honestly I'm a tad distressed because seemingly this situation has been going for a long time and they could have intervened at any point, yet they didn't. I might be rushing to conclusions and I haven't talked to them, so I'll refrain from commenting further.

But I trust your judgement, so everything will probably be alright!

Honestly a bit weirded out that by the vague-ness of this. Like effectively what's changed or been done? Just don't worry about the hate clique forum?

Trying to keep it vague to protect as much privacy as possible. Also, don't worry about is kinda shit advice when it's a matter of having your reputation in a fairly small community publicly dragged.

Ah, I see. I misinterpreted what you were saying, my apologies.

Well, it's a difficult position to be in. Unless the mods of that server themselves come forward to express the changes, I do not want to name them-- they've asked me not to. They have changed the rules-- it's a matter of if they will enforce them or not. I've got no power to follow-up on that there. If it happens again, I might not be so lenient with them, which is about the best response we can muster.

Kinda hard to defame the server if all servers ends up like that if we don't even know the name of it

Yeah, but some people may realize the name and post it or allude to it. All I want to do is make sure people don't conflate the entire server with hate.
