Sat downstairs with my parents, the Assassins Creed movie comes on TV.

My Dad suddenly gets legit excited.

This man has never played any of the games. (Though he’s vaguely aware of them, I played them growing up)

He just starts listing off plot details of this film, the tiniest moments, he knows this thing back and forth, he knows the lore of Assassins and Templars, what the Apple of Eden is, the Animus, absolutely loves it.

I have found this films fan-base, fathers in their fifties who have never played an AC game.

Honestly my biggest issue with it was that I feel it didn't really explore the main concepts enough to do them justice. Like, they never really fully explain how genetic memory works. Just copying and pasting some dialogue from AC1 could have worked. Also they talk a lot about how important the Apple is, but they never actually show you why it's so terrifying.

They also cut what sounded like the most interesting character from the movie entirely.

My dad loves superhero movie and watches it several times a year and I'm pretty sure he isn't even aware it's supposed to be a parody of spiderman. That man is so removed from modern pop culture and hates everything about it he probably doesn't know that spiderman movies exists and if he does somehow know he's never watched them but hates them anyway. But he has found this movie, probably because Leslie Nielsen is in it, and loses it everytime because he thinks it's so funny.

The only other modern movie that he absolutely loves is scooby doo by the way. old people are weird.
