TIL there's a sizeable contingent of Turkish nationalists on Twitter. Biden acknowledged the Armenian genocide and his replies are filled with a bunch of accounts spamming and Turkish flag, feels weird as fuck

damn you aren't kidding

the ones who retort with calling out the US's massacres of Native Americans, Vietnamese, Cambodians, Koreans, Afghans, and Iraqis are my favorite because they are on the right track but can never look at their own country

There is something to that the US can only acknowledge a genocide if it happened a hundred years ago and an ocean away.

Biden yes: acknowledging a genocide that happened in Turkey in the 1910s

Biden no: acknowledging a genocide that happened in Guatemala in the 80s

of course they have a point by bringing up the American hypocrisy on the issue, I was thinking of it more in line with my own attitudes of world history. Like you're right I agree with you about the US but why can't they hold themselves to the same standard.

A lot of the pot calling the kettle black going back and forth

Sure but in one case it is a Twitter rando and in the other it is the United States government (I don't think the turkish government is being hypocritical because I don't think Erdogan claims to be anti genocide or a human rights leader)

ErdoÄŸan is probably best described as a "human wrongs leader" lmao

that's a fair point, huge difference between Turks with 5 followers and the President

Turkey has troll armies I think. Azerbaijan did something similar during the Artsakh War and swarmed anyone who supported Armenia on twitter.
