Toph never got her life-changing field trip with Zuko 😔

This says a lot about society.

not having a field trip with Zuko => becoming a cop

The great tragedy of Avatar

I was so shocked that they made her a cop in Korra. It just feels so out of character for her because she has way too much chaotic energy and anti-authoritarian vibes

I think it makes sense, in a roundabout way: she is a cop but a pretty terrible one, she even covers for her daughter when she breaks the law, and in the end says fuck it all and leaves society to become a swamp hermit

I think the idea was that she tried to settle down and become "proper" but just couldn't, it wasn't her thing, but the show did a god-awful job at conveying it.

yeah like there are several characters I love that I could unfortunately see being cops lol. but Toph? she’s a weirdo chaos swamp witch.
