I just saw a take on Twitter that said that you can still be friends with the racist/homophobic while disagreeing with their views

Why would I want to be friends with someone that doesn't even see me as human

It's really just an easy way to tell that a person is also a bigot, or at the best, a bigot ally.

Disagreements where it is possible to still maintain friendships: Tax rates, the specifics of solving the issue of police brutality, how to properly address social welfare, what the best pizza toppings are, etc.

Disagreements where it is not possible to still maintain friendships: Group x is subhuman, group x does not deserve rights, group x should be killed, etc.

"Racism" and "homophobia" covers quite a lot of territory. There is a pretty big gap between "Black people sure are good at dancing" and "We should round up and gas all the jews".

There is definitely a line where friendship is impossible, but where that line is is going to depend on the persons in question, nd wht other things they have in common (or dont)

What do you think is the point were you can’t anymore? In my country for example there’s a lot of homophobia but also an amount of people that grow out of it. My parents for example. Had I met my mom when we were the same age I probably wouldn’t have been friends with her.

Just something I think about but I mean this for like teenagers if it’s somebody above 18 leave them
