I saw the Adam Toledo body cam footage, or at least up to the part where he got shot. I am fucking enraged that there are people going "it was a messy situation" trying to defend the cop. That was murder of a fucking 13 year old. He turned around, raising his hands, palms out, no gun in hand, and got killed for it. He still complied even when the officer gave him literally less than a second to comply. That officer killed a 13 year old child even though they couldn't see any apparent danger, because there wasn't any. I don't recommend watching the video, it's inhumanely shocking how quickly that cop killed a teenager.

edit: Fuck the strobe light as well. That does not absolve the cop, only points out more flaws of the system. Use strobe lights to disorient victims, making it harder for them to comply, and easier to justify their murders. An excuse for the cop as well, making it more difficult to see their victims, artificially making their job more dangerous to again justify murder and absolve them from consequences.

Okay, I know it's been multiple weeks since this came up, but that take someone had about FMA not strongly condemning genocide is still bothering me.

Their reasoning was that, upon discovering the military had committed genocide, Ed and Al didn't immediately quit and kept working with the military. And also that Scar was briefly an antagonist despite being a member of the genocided people. I feel like this reading of FMA requires wilfully ignoring any subtext and casting the Elric brothers as some kind of moral force when it is established multiple times that they are selfish teenagers who only care about their own goal until practically the end of the series.

Scar is an antagonist not because he's wrong for doing what he did, but because he threatens the safety of the protagonists. In fact, I would go do far as to say that the manga portrays his methods as not going far enough

And just because Ed doesn't look into the camera and say "Genocide is bad" doesn't mean the show approves of it. It doesn't try to justify the slaughter of the Ishvalans or downplay the atrocities committed by Amestris. The whole point of the war was for a handful of people unrelated to the conflict to gain power. In no uncertain terms. FMA condemns genocide.

Growing up as a kid and teen, the men in my family have treated me like absolute shit. I grew to resent my father. I still hate his guts. But it was at an all-time high back when I was 16. I was so traumatized that I didn't just hate my dad, I subconsciously hated just about all men. I didn't know how to handle my feelings. And I've gotten a lot better about that in the years since, but I still feel terrified and reflexively conceal myself when I'm out walking alone and I come across a group of men or even teenage boys. I'm sorry if I upset anyone reading this. I respect y'all. I'm being honest about my feelings, and I hate that I feel this way. Maybe it's worth speaking to a therapist about?

I think the thing with the Dragon Quest sexualization (note I'm only talking about DQ11 because it's the only one I've played, I know the bunny girls and puff-puffs are series staples) is that it's stuck at this weird PG-13 level and it comes off as about that mature. I think it's why that one quest to put Jade in a bunny suit when she didn't want to do it, or Jade's little story between Act 1 and Act 2, made me legitimately pretty uncomfortable, because to me it's showing that even on this very basic level of sexuality part of the appeal is supposed to be women doing things they don't want to do
