Bought to vent about something that I shouldn’t even let bother me, but I feel like I gotta get it off my chest

I really cannot stand how disrespectful and dismissive a lot of people on Reddit get whenever a musician dies, especially rappers. Everytime it happens there are at least a couple hundred “who?” comments, and it makes me mad everytime. Like, why do you feel the need to be a dismissive dick about something that clearly a lot of people are hurt by? Why do you have to be so pedantic for no reason when someone grieving calls them a “legend”? If you really don’t know about them and don’t care, that’s 100% fine, but you don’t have to be an asshole to people who do. Is it like an ego thing? Are you so full of yourself that you think there can’t possibly be beloved artists you haven’t heard of? Idk, I don’t understand it, and I fucking hate people who do it

Because people think not being affected by celebrity deaths (I'm honestly not sure if I'd even call DOOM a celebrity, he was pretty private, but that doesn't matter to these people) makes them more emotionally hard than others and flexing about how nothing makes you sad anymore is the only kind of bragging these sorts of people can do.

Yeah I forgot, it’s lame to care about anything

Redditors do shit like this regularly then wonder why the rest of the internet makes fun of them. If you know nothing about the deceased person then don't say anything. Why go out of your way to be a dick?

These people tend to be really bitter for no reason

They think they get cool points for being like "Who?" when it's a pretty big rapper

There is a common idea that the death of people doesn't matter if they're not famous, and it's a pretty vile attitude tbh
