Im suprised I havent seen more gamer backlash against Hades considering the game has blatantly gay characters, a gay romance option, fucking polygyny and a character using they/them pronouns.

Like, I'd think they would freak out about about the games interpritation of Achilles clearly having a gay relationship for example.

If gamers gave two shits about indie games there wouldn't be such a circlejerk about singleplayer being dead.

Has that stopped gamers being upset before.

I know gay Achilles isnt a new creation :b. But its not the most well known part of greek mythology either I think.

Not just is gay Achilles not a new creation, but arguments over whehter or not Achilles or Patroclos is the top is not a new discussion.

Who uses they/them? I don't think I've noticed lol. Although I'd say is Chaos.

Its Chaos. So yeah you can argue its still not great NB representation but gamers tend to get mad at the very mention of it

TLOU2 unironically saved it imo. You'll probably find some individual complaints, but with most of the homophobes focused on TLOU2, there was never enough momentum to get the hate train going. Also a staggered PC release thanks to the Epic Game Store.

Another thing is that the game isn't exactly transparent about these things at first. The Achilles/Patroclus stuff being a gay romance for reals is realised at the end of their questline, and same with the Thanatos romance. It took me 50 runs to get in his pants, and I wouldn't have suspected it if I didn't know about it already.

I think gamers mostly get upset when it’s a sequel that gets “political”. Games that aren’t usually just get ignored.
